All my painting life I have avoided white, well mainly light colours, because i hate painting them, as i tend to use black undercoats.

anyways, it is time to move on, and i am now started a long over due deathwing army, infact i started sculpting my Belial today.

I don't want to paint them in the tradition bleached bone style, but more a weathered white (like this http://www.coolminiornot.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?3-Painting-amp-Conversions)

i was just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to get a nice weathered white that looks good. obviously over either a grey or white undercoat

cheers peeps :)

Looking at the pic it looks as if the base color was more of a light yellow brown with pure white as the high highlight. Whites are tricky to get right and even harder to master. You can look at using a white set such as Andrea's white set which I use quite a bit and then do maybe a sepia or mud wash into the recesses. I dont think I would use a white primer but thats just me. I prime everything in black and just take my time and build my basecoat layer by layer. Often I will have 15 thinned coats for my base for great and smooth coverage. You can look at using white plus kommando khaki or white and graveyard earth as a base coat but using more white than the other. But I am sure there are many others who have had more success with weathered white than me. Hope this helped

yeah, start with white, shade down a bit at the edges and crevices into brown (you could even use a dark grey) and then weather the crap out of it with oil paints, I reckon.
