To answer your question lono patience. Anyway
Ok so Im on the home stretch as far as the build goes. These are a few things I did last night
BSB_banner_05.jpg

I will ad a few more decos and trophies but basically this banner is done thank to Rince wind for his banner tute.

I also made a sword for him to go (as it was pointed out to me)with the theme of my army
BSB_Sw_06.jpg

And this is how he looks so far
BSB_green_001.jpg

Just a few small clean ups and additions and I will be finished with the build. So I hope to start painting on Monday fingers crossed.

Sorry Ogrebane...I always seem to forget about the WIP threads...and yours is a dandy. Great GS tips, and a very fun thread to watch your progress. Thanks and keep it up!

ogre,

this is probably going to get me a right fine clobberin\' but you ever thought of painting something other than.......*cough*.............crickets chirp......ogres?

meep

uber goes running away fleeing the multitudes of ogres and knoblars.

actually really good.

I do paint other thing Uber but at the moment I am doing ogres. This will probably be my last one .... well except for a unit of IG that Im doing for GD but thats it ..... well I might do another character for GD.......... and then no more except for a scrap launcher and some saber tusks and then Im definitely done with ogres...... although maybe ....................................

So anyway not sure what my next army will be but Im thinking High elves.

hold onto your horses for high elves. they are bound to come out with some new ones sooner or later. although i have to admit i like them just the way they are. they remind so much of the way mini\'s were in the 90\'s. well keep up the good work

I expect the book to be released sometime this year. But whilst Im waiting I will do a few projects like chariots and war machines that probably wont change with the new book. I have about 4000pts of unpainted elves.

Hey look I hijacked my own thread man I\'m good or is it Uberdark\'s cunning plan all along.

Hmmm.

Well I think I have finished building this guy so its on to painting.
BSB_FG3.jpg

You might not see the diff between this and the last one but I made a chain around his neck (Sculpting Chain Link and yes I stole this so if its your tute or you know whose it is let me know so I can give them credit.) and added another Bret symbol. Also a couple of rocks on the banner and he is set to go. I have made the banner detachable incase I want to change the banner type (Yep stole that idea as well)

Anyway hopefully the next pic will finally have some paint on it.

WOW! That is a *fantastic* conversion.

I picked some ogre bits from BW to make a standard bearer -- I knew there was potential there but haven\'t been able to think of anything. Seeing what you\'ve done... wow. Just incredible.

The model is dynamically posed, full of character and very clearly in keeping with the feel and theme of the genre.

You picked the perfect face for him too. With the pose and style of the model he looks appropriately defiant.

Okay, I\'m starting to sound like a fan \"boi\" now so I\'m going to shut up.

Ahem. Um... quite nice, sir. Yes, top notch.

OK Ive undercoated him so hers a couple of pics

I\'ll do some block coloring tonite and then the fun begins

Dont sweat it MJ Im flattered that anyone even looks at my thread. With such great artists here it hard to get noticed sometimes (oops is my insecurity showing again let me just tuck that back in)
Blokey stuff blokey stuff ahhh much better. Well it is sunday and I do have a hangover so Im allowed a moment.

It\'s probably a bit too late now, but I think the sword and standard would look better in the opposite hands. I liked how the standard pole looked swaying sideways, and the sword would be very cool raised aloft. It would be a very Bretonnian style pose too.

The chain thing is useful, I have been using a different, less simple and less effective technique than that, so cheers to whoever it was you got the tip from!

What\'s his raised foot going to rest on?

Yer lono I originally was going the other way around but had problems with the banner and Getting him to rank up so I went the other way. Maybe I should have tried the other way but Im commited now (Ooops never say that word to a crazy person)

On to the paint

The banner it is a little rough. Just shows I was rushing a little. I will be using a wash of milliput (have done so before to good effect) and I will get it smoother for sure. As to the big guy a bit of creative painting will hide most of my mistakes and a lesson is learned on rushing a job

Anyway on to some paint.
The first one just has a wash with thinned black so I can see all the bits. The next one is elf flesh base.
BSB_skin_02.jpg
BSB_skin_04.jpg

The next one is EF base with Dwarf flesh mixed with a little grey as the shade and EF and white for highlights. I then did a very thin blue and flesh wash.
Also blue and red washes were used to give the face a little character. I need to fix the eyes a little but as far as Im concerned the flesh is done.

You\'ll have to wait for the other tute. Im male I have a one track mind and all the traffic is going in the wrong direction

Just a quick note about undercoating. Im not going to get into a debate as to what is the best color. I use both balck and white undercoat and they serve a different purpose IMHO. Anyway once I undercoat I then give the mini a thinned wash of white. This covers any bits that havent been covered and also help seal the under coat. After that has dried i then thin some black paint and give it a wash some time 2-3 washes. It helps bring out all the bits that are hard to see and also help the shdows look darker.

Anyway I took another pic of his head. Hopefully it shows if the face better. The mini looks alot better IRL I just cant take pics to save myself.
So here he is. I fixed the eyes a little as well.

You never disappoint. Looks great so far. At first I was thinking the sword may be a little small but it looks good now. The chain mail seems odd to me, but I\'ll wait till its painted to say anything about it. Can\'t wait to see what else you do with this guy.
