Thanks for the kind words everyone. I've been really busy the past few weeks so I got no painting done unfortunately. I was able to prep a few more rats and couple other projects though. These next 12 months will be really packed with projects, I have plans to attend 4 shows and there's a few online comps I may enter.

BAM, I'd love to see your weathering on these filthy vermin. I was planning on doing one of these guys as an albino, so great minds think alike! I heard that GW is going to start selling the Shadespire units without the cards so it'll bring the price down a little, might pick up a few more squads if that's the case.

Pink cherry blossom freehand on his coat would be very fitting for the character! Something to challenge yourself with perhaps.

The skin's looking great so far bud

You doing great on the skin Flu, if I would handle skins like I handle my metals I would be in heaven. Like why you use so much green hue in this guy's skin? I got so much to learn...

Fox, cherry blossoms could be interesting. I'm definitely doing some kind of over-the-top freehand, but I haven't nailed down what yet. I even extended the back of the jinbaori to get more room to work.

Joce, I got the idea from Camelson when he did his barbarian from Black Sun Miniatures:

but instead of using a pure green base coat I mixed 50/50 Sherwood Green (S75) and Forest Skin (Vallejo), then I glazed over that with pure Forest Skin. I think when it's all done it will give a more natural look.

No sure cherry blossoms are usable on the samurai dress of a man, I would say they (samurai) would be choosing some geometrical pattern instead. Have an eye on that, specially if you decide to take a more "historic" path for the figure... if you go the fantasy/manga way you'll instantly get more freedom, anyway you can paint what you please of course!

That Camelson step by step is fascinating FW....thanks for posting up...green has been a fundamental base colour for fleshtones by classical painters over the years. Interesting to see it in this context with the red undershadowing.

The ONLY THING I DONT LIKE IS HIS EYES-there is NO WAY he should look that LUCID AND FOCUSED AFTER 200 hours suckin on an OPIUM PIPE!!! He clearly needs a whole bottle of gloss varnish so he can get that glazed over look he should have from “CHASIN THE DRAGON” ;p
