thanks BPI:)

and yeah, i´m confident that i get the sound up and running in time.
the problem with linux is how different many thinks are, but i have to give the programmers a lot of credit: Ubuntu looks great ( think Windows Vista ) , the installation was done in no time (about 30 min) , it seems fast and yes, the learning curve less compared to older linux versions i tried before.

@Funnymouth, I don't understand the experiment but losing a Sunday is definitely a bummer :( Commiserations.
just venting. i do feel kind of burned about sunday, because i have to come in tomorrow too :dazed: bye bye weekend. happy f-ing birthday to me!

@ funny mouth: Luciferase ? Your work is about bioluminescence then, right? sounds interresdting, sorry to hear it didn work out , i know how you feel
close! we use it as a "reporter," because its easy to see, and take measurements of. if we attach it to a gene we're interested in, luciferase will be made at the same time, thus we can study how much of that RNA/protein is being made/degraded etc by looking at how luminescent it is. i use it as one of many tools to study breast cancer.

@Dedwrekka - do you work on a production line, or is it repair shop work? Are they little single engine four-seaters or gigantic airliners? I'm intrigued :)
Airforce. The boss in question has taken to flipping out over cosmetic issues* with paint on parts that will never see close inspection or be so covered in grease, fluids, or oil that no one will be able to tell after installation. All while going slack on his own shift. Course, being military, true revenge is something best served by subversion and tact.

I've had a very shitty week.

I was made redudant yesterday.

Back last year I was head hunted to work in a company.......all these lovely promises were made to me about where I'd go within the business etc,etc.......

Because my contract ran out in December but they extended it to the new year to see how it was going they only had to give me a weeks notice, and I had that yesterday.

I'm f**king annoyed I left another job for this one taking the risk that all the shiny bits would come true, as it was sold to me as almost a cert.

So I'm now officially going to be unemployed...........going from bringning in £1200 a month to £0.

Not sure how hard it's going to hit me yet.

It seems my end of the week turned out bad as well. We just got the news that a very close friend of ours got assaulted and raped the other day...

talion, any chance you can get the old job back? get away from the 'port?

Well I have e-mailed, chances are pretty slim though as the owners of the 2 companies know each other...........and hate each other.

Thats how I was head hunted, the owner of the company I just got made redundant from, knew i was there and offered me what was supposedly a better job. So when I left the original company to go to the new one, I don't think i went down to well.

I live in the port and my wife works there so......a job in the port would be better, I've been in cardiff for the past 4 jobs.

maybe you can use that to your advantage? i have never seen that sentence before....'a job in the port would be better'. unless it's referring to afghanistan...
