I think they both look pretty good but there's a lot of shadow in your pics.

Naw you don't need one of those. You could take a little better pictures if you just take them outside. Best on an overcast day, but if it's sunny just avoid direct sunlight. Not necessarily too shaded of an area, but maybe just inside your front door NOTHING has worked better for me than a cloudy Seattle afternoon. Or wait until the sun has started to head West and take it on the east side of your house.
