Ok, the oger kingdoms guys all have a painting guide for their gnoblars and ogers, but we furred ones are left wanting. I am looking for help and comments and support here. Supervike, Tiddco and I are painting the Sashquach for the paint aid. comments, color schemes, advise, asides all accepted.

good thread!

Now, we\'re talking! Actually, after looking at a bunch of different yetis, yhetees, (whatever) I think I like the bluish tint skin color that this one has..

http://www.coolminiornot.com/76705

The GW \'studio\' ones seem to have a more yellowish, brown base, but to me the blue makes them look \'colder\'.

I have pm\'ed Tim (tidoco2222) and we have had some ideas swapping back and forth, but no set standards.

One point of contention is to give the Yhetees a \'snow base\' as opposed to the regular base the rest of the army will have. I am flexible either way, but would really like the powers that be (ex. DRAGONSREACH) to give us their take.

But, like mr. airhead said, I am completely open to suggestions as well. What do any of you think?

I agree with Supervike the blue skin looks really nice to me. Here is my attempt at the good old yheti

I don\'t mind either way but I do think the Yhetee Jim has highlighted is a cool looking mini (pun intended). I think starting with a white undercoat. Then something like Ghostley Grey with a little Shadow Grey mixed in for the base coat and then Ghostley Grey and then Skull White highlights for the fur. Codex Grey up to Fortress Grey and Ghostley Grey for the skin with Skull White for the most extreme highlights.
As for the bases, by reading the fluff the Yhetees have freezing breath which is how they form their ice weapons so I like the idea of bloks of ice and snow on the bases. Possibly painting the blocks of ice with Ice Blue working out to Skull White for the edges.
How does that sound?

Sounds great. I think the major thing is for our three minis to have a cohesive look.

@slider...that is a very cool mini you linked there...who makes that one? (oh and good paint too!!)

I am in agreement too. So, the blue/white hide with Shadow Grey as the skin base?

I like the weapons in the GW pic I linked.

Ice blocks and snow bases upon approval? (airhead leaves to email mike and/or tammy)

Rather than having massive blocks of ice, how about doing a light frosting of \"snow\" just around their feet and just behind them? That would show they are cold and have left a cold trail behind them.

You could use a light dusting of bicarbonate of soda for this.

Just a suggestion...

Provoke me - YES. I\'ve been off to the garage to find a drill bit to open the hole side in the arm a bit.

AND I\'ve noticed the head doesn\'t want to be on the stem sticking out of the neck either.

Then back to the pin drill to drill a little hole in the big one....

By the \"ex DRAGONSREACH\" am I to take it you don\'t want my advice?
Tough you\'re getting it. :D

Personally I like the colour scheme that you have suggested. And having read Trevors suggestion of the \"Trail of Snow\" as opposed to clumps of snow, I think that is a very good idea.
Enjoy the painting. And get the WIPS posted.

The \"ex\" was meant to say \'for example\' not \'except\'....but I like that 2nd one better, it is much more funny!!

sorry!

Well this is my Yhetee so far and I have to say that I would rather paint two dozen Gnoblars than one of these,

YheteeWIP1.jpg

Ok then this is a brief description of my efforts so far,

The fur is basically two different textures, short ie, torso, upper legs, upper arms and back.
Long ie, mane and lower arms and legs.

The whole miniwas given a Ghostly Grey basecoat over a White undercoat, though thinking about it now Space Wolves Grey might have been a better choice as it is a little more blue in tint.

The shorter areas of the fur were given a drybrush with Skull White and then a very dilute wash of Fortress Grey.

The longer areas of fur were given a very dilute wash of Shadow Grey and then drybrushed again with Skull White then I just reshaded and highlighted to taste.

The areas of skin were given a base of Shadow Grey mixed with Graveyard Earth and then I went over again with just Graveyard Earth leaving the base coat showing in the deepest recesses. The highlights were done by mixing Bleached Bone with the Graveyard Earth and just continued the highlights by adding more Bleached Bone with each successive layer.

The ice of the weapon was done with a basecoat of Shadow Grey and then layered up by adding Space Wolves Grey to the base colour.

That is it for now I shall continue to try to make something that is worthy of this cause.

Tim.

Yeah, its looking awesome.

One observation though, the ice weapons look rather grey, more like stone, maybe a blue wash in the recesses would make it look more ice like?

I had thought about that and think I may yet put a wash of blue in the recesses possibly a regal/ultramarine blue mix.Hhmmm
