Abomination WIP

Almost finished painting my Abomination, just want to add some more blood and touch a few things up. Not my best mini by a long way but I didn't want to spend too much time on him. Really fun to paint though.

Thoughts?

I like it very very much.
You used a glossy varnish for the blood, didn't you?

My only "objection" would be about the skin colour, a bit too skinny for a zombie.
Probably some grey and/or violet lavish (very very ligh) would do the trick.

I reckon it's something like a Tamiya Clear Red. Possibly with a spot of Future/Klear mixed in.

Agreed. I'm planning to do mine quite flesh-toney in mid-tones, but with de-saturated shades and highlights.

Could also do with a touch more contrast, imo.

But, it's very well painted, and these are all personal taste type things.

My guess is that contrast & co does not mix with "not spending time on it". Therefore I did not mention it.
I plan to do mine in greyish necrotic skin, "à la" Rackham. Sort of an hidden hommage.

I have a serious question though: How did you do the wonderfull splattering effect on the torso? It is both credible and light.

The blood is Tamiya clear red with just a touch of black paint. As for the skin tone my thought was he is more of a 'juiced up' zombie type like nemesis from Resident Evil, so as more blood would be pumping I gave him more of a warm colour. I'm also trying to match the game artwork colours as best as I can. My more normal walker zombies will have a grey/blueish hue to the skin.

XofMdS, you're right, that splatter does look nice. Not sure how it was done here, but I have seen people take paint on their brush, hold it up to the mini, and then blow on it to get a splatter effect. But the looks here is so fine... I'm not sure blowing would make spots that small.

He looks good! And to be honest I like your interpretation of the abomination being less 'grey dead' and more pumped up and mutated, it works well. For mine I will probably still add a thin wash over the flesh of green or purple just as a light tinge, but this works equally well IMO.

Nicely done ... for my own, I am going to try to have those fragments appear as glass rather than metal, but I love the color interpretation you have chosen.
