About doing great fire effects

Hi guys,

I know this is a really really old mini submission, but I was really struck by the fire effects on this one...... does anyone know how it was done?

That amazing effect...

That is a really good question, the answer to which it would appear that Brushguy would rather keep to himself. Brushguy is one of my heroes on this site and I have to confess that I have no idea how he has achieved this particular effect.
I do know how I would achieve this effect however, and that is through the use of clear acrylic, translucent paint and a lighting source. There is an article about a similar technique in a recent edition of White Dwarf 281, (not that I would recommend a GW product publicly). That\'s how I would do it however as I know that it is very unlikely that I could ever be as good as Brushguy.

Why didn\'t I think of that...

I shall beat myself up with wet rhubarb. Thank God there are sensible people on this site! Honestly, It never occured to me to simply look at Brushguy\'s site. Clearly, I am not that big a fan!

I\'ll check it out..... I kinda wondered if it could have been done with an airbrush ...it being soooo smooth and all..... in fact sometimes when I look at some of the minis, I cant help but feel they might be airbrushed

What a fantastic idea! You could put a mini on a light table of some sort. I know you can get tiny ones for viewing 1 slide at a time. The base would be clear painted with translucent paint, none at the center and darker to opaque at the edges. I love it!
