This is getting stupid. It cost me around $52 (~34 euros) to send THREE roses to my better half for V-day... THREEEEE ROSES... Ridiculous.

@Ritual, about 3500km away. But its not like I had them shipped from here to there, I ordered them from a florist in her local area...

You guys just don\'t know how to shop, do you?
Did you call different florists in her area to get quotes on what sending 3 roses would cost? Surely there must me more than one florist, and internet access makes it possible to peruse the yellow pages (or whatever service directory you use in the UK/Europe) in any area.
But how much is she worth to you anyway?? Careful how you answer that in case she reads it here!

I checked SEVERAL online florists in her area, but I didnt call any others as I dont have a long distance plan right now. I went with the cheapest ones I could find to be honest (she wont read this, and she\'d understand if she did since I just spent over $500 on plane tickets...)

Me, I\'m having custom moulded chocolates made for my missus. I have a friend that makes chocolates professionally -- had her find me a monkey shaped mould to make extra dark chocolate, caramel filled monkeys...

$52 is outrageous for three roses. But, in essence, what you\'re paying for is the effect of the roses. I recently sent a $80 orchid to someone in the US who had been of great help in sorting out an order for me. Stunning girl, stunning job, she deserved it.
