Congrats!!!

My sister went to medical school (she is in residency for pathology) and was in the top 3 of her class. I watched her study ethic and wanted to give you some helpful tips.

1. Bring a tape recorder to class. There is alot of info to learn and it is not easy to learn by simply taking notes in class. It is better to listen in class and tape it, listen to it later as well and then rewrite your notes.

2. STUDY AS MUCH AS YOU PHYSICALLY CAN!!! All my sister did was study. When she was in school I only saw her a couple time a year and she only lived 2 minutes from me and when I did visit her our visits were very short because she wanted to study. So study study study.

Good luck in medical school!

Thank you all a lot!

@Aliengod3: Thanks for the advice! Studying like a lunatic is exactly what I intend to do. I feel like I\'m doing myself a favor that way; someone\'s life could depend on it in the future

Hey Doc, my knee hurts if I do this... Got a cure?

Congrats. Well earned. Hang in there, it gets worse after you graduate.

Oh, well - so much for all that painting! Joking actually - I\'ve been a neurosurgeon the best part of 20 years (hence - \"nutcracker\" -) Painting is a GREAT way to unwind and develop dexterity. Also you will be used to sitting on your butt for hours painting - now you have to sit on your butt for hours studying!
Have a blast - medicine is a great career, with tons of scope. Just try and balance your life - it is all too easy to get caught up in your career.
Have a blast!

@airhead: I\'m not a doctor, but I\'d suggest you stop doing that.

Congratulations on getting accepted. My wife\'s gearing up to go back to school
and finish her nursing courses.

@nutcracker: I am going to take up painting again after a fairly long break (~1 year). Painting is indeed - like you say - very unwinding and relaxing.

And although I haven\'t quite yet come to a conclusion regarding what my area of specialisation will be, I reckon painting must be an excellent, if not the ultimate, hobby for a surgeon!

@airhead: I\'ve run some tests and I\'m afraid we are going to have to remove your spleen.

And once again to all of you; thanks!:D

Well, I don\'t start my education until february next year.

I figured trying to reach the status of super freak! would be an appropriate pastime.

Well, you certainly will have to study a lot, but you will still have time to enjoy life, don\'t worry.

Internship is a completely different story, however...

Hmmm, my spleen you say? I wondered how that was all connected from being ditch-livin, knee-crawlin drunk.

Sins of my past life catching up.
lol

Don\'t need a speen anyway. Haven\'t vented it in a while.
