Hey all, as you may know, I am very knew to the hobby, and I have decided to try my hand at painting orks. So I went to my LGS and got a few citadel paints, such as Boltgun metal, Knarloc green, and thrakka green. The thing is, I only had a limited amount of money, and the only other paints I have are crappy acrylics. My question is, will I be able to water my acrylics down enough to where they can be usable?

The GW paints you just bought are Acrylics themselves. I assume you are talking about Acrylic craft paints. They can be wattered down and some painters on here use them with amazing results.

What brand are the other paints you have?

I think proper paints designed for use on miniatures are the best but I sometimes use \"Anita\'s All Purpose Acrylic Paint\"; it rubs off easily if it\'s not mixed with Citadel paint but it\'s good for painting bases and terrain.

You can paint with artists\' acrylics but \'crappy ones\' - the type that typically come in plastic tubes and all colours are the same price - will generally give you problems because they tend to be very transparent.

All the stuff in my gallery is largely painted using artists\' acrylics.

Yeah, Anita\'s is fine as long as you don\'t have to dilute it, but nigh impossible to transparency blend. I had a full set, gave it to a buddy who does scenery, and replaced it with a full set of P3 and a heaping handful of GW.
