Saw this and had to have it - now finally i have gotten around to starting it. Here's some in progress pics - not much yet, but as it progresses - I'll add some more. I'm not the greatest figure painter, so I figure (no pun intended) that if I post this, I may just get some good hints along the way to improve my technique.

Fun part is going to be doing all those bandages, given that I am totally useless at washes.

Any advice or CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is more than welcome!!:act-up:

Wow, that's a big model Phoenix! Anything over 30mm takes me forever to paint ;)

It looks as though your highlights have gone on quite roughly. drybrushed? I'd suggest taking your highlight colour, thinning it 50:50 with water and gently blending over the rough patches to smooth it all off. Very thin glazes of your shading colour will help to smooth the transitions too.
I take it that you don't own an airbrush? They seem to be de rigeur when it comes to this sort of scale!

Finally, are you aware of the Oz Painters Forum? Well worth signing up to as well as CMON. The guys there will be particularly helpful when it comes to tracking down product/materials/tools at your end of the world :)

Cheers, B.

I must say I thought that the drybrushing was quite a bold move - it seems to fit the nature of the skin on such a mini as this. Although I would say I expected the shading to be a bit more of a deep old brown. I think he looks a little too 'fresh'....

However, I must give you utmost kudos to trying a 200mm model!! When I was painting before my extended break, I got to trying a 120mm scale Verlinden SAS figure - took me about 6 months to figure out how to paint it properly. Can't wait to see more on this - a promising start!
