Advice for first time NMM Black Guard..

Hello lads! I have recently started to paint a Black Guard model and I would like to give it my first go with NMM silver and gold.

Here it is:

Now, it was sprayed black and then white from above to get the shading. Now sadly my white spray is a little grainy but as this is a practice model that\'s ok!

Now I want to paint the silver first. I have the following colours to work with, all GW, Black, Fortress Grey and Codex Grey so I will need to do some mixing probably.

I will try to get a section done at a time and you guys can hopefully give me some pointers!

They key is how you place the highlights and contrast. You can try using the method described in cyrils aricle here on cmon. Arkaal is another person here on cmon that you can look on for help placing highlights. What is it they do?

If we take another example, look at rituals amazing \"Wandyr the Bloodthirsty\" from todays top10. Take a peak at the axe there. Notice how the lightest part is just next to the darkest, but on another angle. That gives the impression of metal shine.

as for mixing. use codex grey as a base and make it cover totally. Shade down to almost pure black and then highlight up to almost white, using the method described. To get smooth transitions use thin paint and many layers. remember to glaze the entire area with a midtone colour to smooth out the transitions, you can also smooth it out while you are highlighting by simply plaze thin glazes of the previous highlight colour on the transition line. Say you first highlight with a mix of 75% codex 25% fortressgrey and then a 50/50 mix. Make a thin glaze of the 75/25 mix over the line that has formed between the two layers.
