Hello all,

I am looking for advice on what colors to use for a 13th Company army. GW put out some models a while back back they were too light blue for my taste. I was wanting to go for a paint scheme more dark and ominous.

Any suggestions on colors and brand of paint would be greatly appreciated. :)

My Eye of Terror Codex is in storage, otherwise I could list the exact colors GW used. It was not, however, a light blue. I do remember that the base armor color was a pre-heresy dark grey (Codex Grey???), with a mish mosh of plates in chaos legion colors, as they had to scavenge parts to repair their armor while trapped in the Eye.

EDIT: Ok. Found online pdf of Codex. Prime black, basecoat codex grey, highlight edges Fortress grey. Chaos pieces painted same as whatever Chaos legion they came from.

The base studio Space Wolves have a blue grey coloration. 13th Company is cold grey (ala the pre Heresy scheme). Ironically, many of the pics still look bluish. (see http://kofler.dot.at/40k/marines_space_wolf.html) Thunderstuck has some really good 13th Co. http://www.coolminiornot.com/125488?browseid=2612349 http://www.coolminiornot.com/125489?browseid=2612349 Mixing Chaos marine parts with the iconography defaced is also a good way to reflect their scavenging in the Eye of Terror while still demonstrating their steadfast loyalty.

Thanks very much. I appreciate the info.

I'm looking around the net to try and find a copy of the Eye of Terror. Hopefully, there is a "how to" in the codex ;)

Those MicroArt studios minis look tough. Thanks for the links.

Google Codex Eye of Terror Pdf and download from your choice of sites.

I have a feeling that some of the mini's must have been painted with a touch of a blue-grey in originally. Look at the cover of "Prospero Burns" - that is personally what the colour should be :)

Are you trying to stay true to the fluff or don't care?

Fluff-wise, go with the darker grey pre-heresy scheme. If not, then go for whatever you think will look good.
