Advice on my site please

Hello everyone,

I have been able to spend some time figuring out a little bit of html code so I\'ve been working on my web site.

I was hoping that you could
take a look and let me know what you think?

I plan on doing some tutorials and stuff but I just want to see what you guys think would make it better.

My two cents...

The home page: The links to the right could be a bit lighter in color. Also the main part of the page should have some sort of graphic.
Overall: I think maybe a background like stars or something. But the rest of the page looks very good keep it up! I like the idea of tutorials!

Simple website, easy to navigate, maybe not flashy like some of the other stuff out there, but it works

Functional and straight-forward. Nothing wrong with that. I\'m not a fan of flashiness just for the sake of flashiness. The main section could use a little spicing up, but don\'t go too crazy.

Nice work on the paint jobs! I enjoyed looking around. My suggestion would be to add a couple of minis, enlarged on the front page that would atract a user to look around. Don\'t use a bunch or animation and kitch, that typically turns me off and I\'ll go on to the next thing I find. Use the old KISS principle (Keep It Simple Stupid), and you won\'t go wrong. Your painting is excellent encourage people to have a look around. I\'ll probably be back for some inspiration from time to time!

I like the simplicity, I\'m sick of super complicated flash sites that take forever to load on a slower connection. The only thing I think you should add is more to the main page, like newsposts and maybe the lastest mini you\'ve done.

Great site, there\'s not much to improve......mmmm....some hand-picked links would be nice, and definetely tutorials. It would work to put the TOOLS link as an article under TUTORIALS, so simpler, less clickin\' etc.......I\'m not very creative, but it\'d be cool to think up some original tutorials, instead of the regular old drybrushing, washing, metals, blah, blah, blah.........

I think switching the banned that says Ripperdoc\'s Minatures from the bottem to the very top would look better IMO. Also maybe a page about how long you\'ve been painting, what models you like to paint, etc.

Thanks for the input everyone. I\'m trying to make it a helpful and neat site for you guys to visit.

I added some more content such as a Work in Progress Page and I hope to have captions under all my pictures by the end of the weekend. Then I can get back to painting and quit searching for html codes

Anyone elses comments would be greatly appreaciated too.

How 2 section:

Put the \"back\" buttons at the bottom of the how-to articles. sounds picky, but after you read the article or at least scroll down it, that is the logical place for the \"back\" button.

If I have to scroll back up to the top for the button, I just hit the back button on my navagator instead.

Like the site. Looks like you need better lighting at your paint station. (second lamp to reduce shadows) But I don\'t know what you have overhead.

Just my $0.02.

what the hell happened to the site?

i meant to comment on it earler, i liked the color of the background and the graphics, with the weird blue back and the minty color txt, now the site just looks like another dime a dozen boring black site that was thrown up in frame maker. unless your really going to seperate your site content wise from the rest i see no need to visit or visually remember the site whatsoever as i have been to hundreds of sites that \"lookwise\" seemed built overnight.

also the menu on the right is a bit odd placed but no big deal.

also if you want to spruce up your site look for free website graphics on google. thousands of buttons, seperator bars, backgrounds etc, all readily free for your to download and help spruce a site up. or pending what you made your banner in aka photoshop then id at least make some nice header graphics at the top of each page saying, reaper, or GW etc, maybe some seperator bars to break up txt and pictures. im not a big fan of flash and animated gifs jumping everywhere like slidedog said but as it is the site just looks like one of the million \"goth\" site out there because someone likes the color black yet they cant use it in a color scheme in any way shape or form effectively.

i love your mint txt, reminds me of that mint julip i had at disneyland years ago.....mmmmm...... anyway id maybe look at some other sites or even cmon where itjust uses blue, then using different shades of the blue makes it a little less plain and doesnt boggle your eyes with overly bright colors or contrast. so id maybe look along those lines of choosing colors or maybe go with browns and golds, blacks with oranges or purple or blues or even greens like the xbox, deep maroons faded yellows. just please dont make another all black template site, like people not posting comments with thier pictures it just seems a big turnoff when you go to all the trouble of getting a site up and running then you make it look plain dead then you cant figure out why it doesnt stand out in any way shape or form. ???
