Ah, the atrocity! Anyone heard the commentary for the World Cup on BBC Radio 5 Live?

Listening to Togo vs S Korea at the moment. The punditry is supplied by Dion Dublin alongside the usual commentary (which, despite the title to the thread, is quite good). Anyone heard Dion Dublin doing his thang yet this tournament? He\'s an atrocious abomination! He\'s worse than Chris Waddle, and that\'s saying something. The quality could be so much better (see Jimmy Armfield - superb, and Peter Claridge of Leicester/Milwall fame). I switched off the commentary because of Dubbers. A complete nightmare. Every cliche under the sun rolls off of his tongue, and his use of tenses is stuck in the weird twilight zone peculiar to footballers, where anything that has already happened is summarised in a pseudo-present tense like \"he\'s taken the ball on his chest, trapped it, shown it to the defender and pinged it over to the wingers who has thumped it in...\"

Aaaaaaaargh!

listening to it now.......

didn\'t think DD was that bad, but now you\'ll have me listening more;

stating the obvious seems to be the order of the day.

Love Jimmy tho.....

Can\'t knock his footballing abilities...

What was the overall synopsis Orb?

I was listening to the radio just now as well whilst cooking and I enjoy Graham Taylor. Whatever the poor fella did to the England team in the past is neither here nor there for us neutrals - when it comes to punditry he\'s genuinely interesting!
