But we as model makers/painters are not much better in our environmental care.
How much waste packaging and boxes are we responible for allowing to continue being made from manufacturers.
Or for that matter from any product manufacturer?

Using GW as an example look at all the boxes on the shelves, how much waste do they create? And has anyone attempted to attract our attention (and GW\'s) to their production, I doubt it.
Plus I doubt that Plastic (or pewter for that matter) is all that beneficial to the environment.
Add to that the amount of products in our leisure activity that are now being made in China, who\'s environmental impact is huge and we are no better than anyone else.

If GW were to start a Recycle Plastic, Pewter and Packaging waste system within in their stores would people begin to take more note?

What you bring up is true DR. However my point is not that we should or should not change our lifestyle to save the planet for future generations. My point is if you\'re going to put yourself in a position where you are telling people how to live, you need to walk the walk, not just talk the talk.

As for recycling the left overs from the hobby - not sure about GB but we have options in place to recycle everything except the pewter bits - its just a case of using whats in place.

@matty: i\'m as close to ital as is possible here in the states...organic, and preservative free, is a bit pricey here in the states...when i\'m in central america, and other third world countries, the diet is definitely all natural...homecooked beans and rice, mangos, pineapple, fresh bread and tortillas, fresh salsa, loads of garlic, avocado, and local coffee...

ital is vital!!!

What has that got to do with anything? Do you think she would have wanted to be used as a bat in this debate? Take a look at some of the previous winners as well... IPCC and Al Gore were not a bad choice.

I have tried them out and I really dislike them. (But I do canvas painting with oils rather than miniatures, so it\'s a bit of a different ball park).

Depends on your point of view. Try looking at it from the perspective of a white rhino or an orangutan or the many bird species that have been permanently eradicated down here through humans stupidly introducing other creatures to the ecosystem.

Pretty difficult to believe we\'re the most intelligent life on the planet sometimes...

Simply that correlation does not mean causation. Sure, man has helped some species to go extinct, but can you honestly say with 100% surety that these species would not have gone extinct without man\'s help? Over 90% of the species that have been on this planet have gone extinct to be replaced by a better survivor. Eventually, we will join them. It\'s the way it is, the way it always has been, the way it always will be.
