Air guns= Bad??

Who hear thinks airguns are bad even when they are in the hands of a highly trained professional and just for target shooting? I\'m confused cuz I was out in my back yard today with my .22 pellet gun from the 60/70\'s and the cops came to my house on a call from my neighbors saying that my neighbors said that I was training to assassinate someone. I guess when you listen to rock and own a few guns, you\'re automatically considering on planning the next Columbine shooting.

@provoke me- For a while they did, then their other neighbor who listens to country shot it with an 8 gauge deer slug. THUMP! They had no problem with that. lol

@funnymouth- I crank up the music all them time and they can\'t do sh!t about it because its during the day and before all the kiddies go to bed. I have three sterios all in sinc playing the same stuff and all of them backed with a 120 watt amp. so that\'s about 500 watts not even turned all the way up, more like half-way and when the other neighbors pass by and the windows are open, they say \"CRANK THAT UP!\" lol and they attempted to call the cops last time and the cops said \"its the middle of the day, your not an owl, his music kicks @55, if you are an owl, you should enjoy it, Your always asking for that band to play\" lol.

Where do you live? Most US cities or towns with a significant population density have ordinances against outdoor target shooting with any kind of gun including pellet guns, BB guns, paintball guns, etc. within city limits.

Water guns are usually ok though. :)

Middle of nowhere in technical terms. Guess what\'s behing my targets that I shoot at? Nothing! Just woods that if anyone is in them, they are tresspassing and there\'s signs in there every five feet. The woods is just property that doesn\'t belong to anyone, its for sale by the government.

I was taugh gun safety to the extremes, so I always check behing my targets before firing to make sure nothing is in danger. I also load the gun the proper way and everytime I lower the gun, the safety is on, and everytime it goes back into the gun safe, it has a masterlock gun lock on it, along with my other pelet gun. I also never ever point a gun at a person, its always pointed towards the ground.

edit: WITH the chamber empty.

Good grief, some busy bodies cant leave well enough alone. Shoot all the BB\'s and pellets you want. Dont let the \'gun worry warts\' stop you.

I mostly do. I shoot them into cans, wooden horses, plastic bottles, and this wood stuff the if you padded yourself with it, you could surely take a .22 bullet without worry at all.

RSB, you should have a suitable backstop. If you are outside of the city limits, keep shooting. If you are taking reasonable precautions, there is not a lot they can do.

Practice safety at all times and let them (the cops when they get called) see that you are saftely shooting at targets and have an appropriate backstop. Not firing towards the neighbors\' houses or wildly into the air.

About the only thing they can get if they are really looking is that you could be an unsupervised minor (if you are under 18?).

yes, I am under 18. I am way outside any city limits. And also, the stuff I am shooting at is good for stopping anything up to a 9 mil. Well, that\'s the target, they looked at it today and shot a 9 mil into it and said it was safe. It has a good amount of kevlar inside. The board that I mentioned earlier did take a .22 round into it and still was together, and it was only cheap floor-boarding, who knew. lol. Odd that they tested the stuff is what I though. Apparently, the guy who shot the target box has one at home for his guns. My backstop is mostly 5 acres of woods. lol

You think that\'s funny? :flame:
I like cats, I\'m laughing at the fact that their neighbors can shoot their animals no matter what and get off scott-free if they listen to a different kind of music. I was the one who actually had to bury the thing because my mom blamed me for it, and I hate to tango with dead bodies, expecially when there is 2 halves. They also abused the cat, they barely ever fed it, it was constantly in my garage eating what was stored in the garage and I didn\'t care that it was eating a bunch of our food, I let it eat, my mom would always beat it out of the garage with a broom and call it an \"evil cat\". Poor cat.

Unfortunately, I think most people should be sterilised. For this reason and many others... (including listening to country music)

...as for guns. It\'s a culture thing. Personally I don\'t see the point.
