Airbrush Compressor and setting up an indoor work area.

So, just picked up an Iwata airbrush to start giving airbrushing a whirl.

My brother has an industrial grade compressor which I've been using with a regulator to bring it to the requirements for just a hobby airbrush.

But what I wanted to know, are there any good quiet compressors on the market, and is it possible to set up an indoor area that's relatively small for airbrushing miniatures? Ventilation is not a problem, my paint area is in front of two large windows, etc. Just want to know if I can make something where the paint won't go everywhere and I'll get a good effect.

Just a pain at night to trek down to the back shed (especially in winter) just to paint a mini, and also can't have anything loud as the family bedrooms are all around my paint area, and they ain't going to thank me if I'm making a racket during a late night paint session...

Ah, that's excellent help. Thanks a mil for that!

Yeap, I'll only be spraying acrylics, don't use enamels anymore.

Right, I'll see what ye ol' google has to say then...

Airbrush will get everywhere. Eventually you'll find paint in places you thought impossible. Spray booths are a help. You'll eventually get a glove and blow paint out the cup all over the walls and ceiling. A small fan with an ac filter in front will keep the overspray to a minimum.

First, you must have a spray booth to work indoors. I got this one (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004ZH7RSM/). It folds down ridiculously small, and the exhaust port is perfect for a nearby window.

As far as compressors, if there is a Michael's store near you, go to their website and print a 40% off one item coupon. I ended up getting a really nice, quiet Badger compressor with holding tank from them for under $200.

Must be honest - I spray indoors without a spray booth and have never found that the overspray hits the walls or such like. My desk is a diagonal corner one so there is quite a depth between the front and very back which might contribute. A sealed cleaning pot is very useful though for cleaning the airbrush :)
