Airbrush Video Guide (Tank Camo)

I noticed several requests for help with Airbrush work in the forum and here is a guide I created. Please note that these are being completed for table top gaming in 15mm SCI-FI, so the results are not master class but please do have a look, you might find a handy tip.

It is two 10mins videos with Part one mostly being about the spraying and camo and partII weathering:

This is part two with Weathering etc: http://www.youtube.com/user/trybeinganihilist#p/u/9/UVmEgQ_e9p4

Really quite nice couple of videos. Anybody starting out with an airbrush should certainly watch the first vid - the consistancy of your paint is spot on. I think that you could quite happily use the info here for painting a vehicle for any sized system to game standard and it was interesting to see how you used the Tamyia weathering powders for a substitut drybush :)

@Runebrush Thanks for the comment. I have actually moved on a bit since I completed this video and now use a proper spray booth and a different set of paint. I am starting to get more competent which is speeding up the process. I defiantly recommend the method is tried if you are making larger tanks like the 40K ranges.

Nice little videos. I have an Aztek, too, but I've only played with it a little bit, having done just a handful of models so far.

I did notice that you seemed to have it set to "single action," though; was there any particular reason for that? I find that I can avoid occasional splatters by making sure it's tuned to dual action, so that I can start the air flow whilst pointing somewhere harmless (like the side of the spray booth or paper towel), and usually just keep the air going and control the paintflow as needed.

Have you used your Aztek for anything more than basecoating/camo yet? I'd be really interested in hearing about any other techniques you might have stumbled upon with this gun. ;)

Good to see vids like this :good: anything like this can help a few guys/gals get started, which is the first hurdle to using new equipment.

I'm sure a few won't have heard you can mask this way either, which'll help demystify that part of the process too.

@Rev: If you are in the South East UK - drop me a PM, happy to meet gamers from the area and talk shop with regard painting etc. @Valander: I have never taken much note about the dual action/single action control. I just spray onto card and see what it looks like. I must take time to get it setup properly. I find the splatter is mostly not a problem now I have a decent compressor.
