Airbrush, what to choose

hello all you geniuoses

My old Itawa airbrush has started leaking in odd places, and the nozzle is a bit too big for my needs now since my skills have improved. Soooo i am in the market for a new airbrush, with a 0,15-0,2-0,3 nozzle, easy to take appart and easy to clean. What do you guys use and is there some you can recomend.?

Your airbrush probably just needs new o-rings and a good cleaning to fix it up. Assuming you haven't been throwing it like a dart at the wall or driving over it, it should last a lifetime.

Have you looked into getting a new needle/nozzle set for your Iwata? Most have a couple options for interchangeable nozzles for far less cash out of your pocket.

I eventually progressed to an Iwata and wouldn't consider changing brand.

What model Iwata do you have?

What are you looking to do with it? (you said you wanted a finer gun, so I'm assuming you are looking for a very fine detail gun).

Iwata models:
CM-B (very $$$$ - unless you are doing illustration for a living or won the lottery, it would be hard to justify)
HP-B (still a bit pricey, but a great value in the long run)
HP-C Not quite as fine, but a bigger cup. Great for details on cars & helmets.

Paashe:
AB Turbo - this beast has a huge learning curve, but possibly one of the best detail guns made. I'm still trying to find a used one at the right price.

Others:
Look for guns you can get parts for at a reasonable price. A great gun is worthless if you cannot replace the needle/cone.

Where:
I could recommend a lot of websites for you, but they are US based. Sorry, I'm not much help there.

Ooookkkk soo took my airbrush appart and cleaned it thoroughly and it needed it....alot. Dont having any o-rings to change according to my instruction guide.

i have an revolution CR by the way. And yes there is a 0,5 to 0,3 conversion kit for around 35$....a far cry from the 250ish needed for a new one.

Now i only need to stock up on supplies and paints for a test project to see if it has stopped leaking.:highfive:

A lot of my production guns will blow a soap bubble when underwater (cleaning) right at the nozzle/body threads. Not a big deal.

If you are talking about leaking air when the trigger is released, then the needle needs to be adjusted. If that does not do it, check if the cone has some dried paint in it. Use an interdental brush (small cone shaped thing).

If that does not do it, a new cone/needle may be in order. Tip crashes (hitting something with the tip of the needle) that are good enough to bend the needle generally egg the cone as well. Buy them in sets.
