That compressor will do fine for modeling. It has a bleeder type regulator that you may want to replace with a better one. Basicly, it has a valve to open to reduce the amout of air going to the gun.

The glass thing in the front is a moisture trap. Not uncommon on smaller compressors to find a moisture trap and regulator all in one. You should be able to find one at a DIY/Home Center store.

Bearair is a great company. I have worked with them numerous times and any problems you encounter, they will take care of you.
Also don\'t forget the location of your airbrushing when buying a compressor. A more expensive one will sometimes be less noisy than a cheap one and this makes a big difference in a closed space. It can get really noisy really quick. I have an Iwata compresor Silent Air(I think that is what it called). It was more expensive than the rest but is incredibly quiet so in my small hobby area I don\'t blow my ears out.

I would recommend stepping up to the 850 it\'s auto shut off feature is well worth it in extending the compressors life and the noise stress on you and your neighbors ears. If you can afford it stepping up to a compressor with a reserve tank like the Smart Jet Pro is worth its weight in gold, especially if you are thinking about doing more than just base coating larger models.

Thanks for the all the great information, with xmas in the way I\'ll probably look at something in the new year. Seems stuff over here is quite cheap too.

auto shutoff is also very handy for keeping the compresor cool. mine has a 30min runtime before it just won\'t work anymore unitl it cools down.
