It has been said that GW want to become the new Airfix (can\'t remember who made that observation Finn:D).

It now appears that we were wrong and that it is in fact Airfix who want to be GW!

Airfix Robogear

Starter set at £29.99 with vehicles, troops, scenery, paints and rules makes 40K seem a little overpriced. Vehicles £6.99, 12 troops £7.99.

Interesting looks like a cheap version of Battletech or even the game for the younger people what was it now, oh yes Battlezone.
Certainly looks like value for mone depending on the quality of the plastic used and the castings.

Can\'t be any worse than GW tat!

Apparently the vehicles fire plastic projectiles and the system has rules for \'actual\' missiles and \'virtual\' attacks. Sounds great for kids!

Anyone remember \'Crossbows and Catapults\'? That was a great game. Smash stuff to pieces with miniature siege weapons! If you wound the elastic bands really tight, you could take lighting and windows out!!

It\'d certainly give new meaning to the phrase \'tabletop paintjob\':D

I knew I\'d seen some on coolmini somewhere, I think I could be tempted to paint one or two of these, looks like they\'d give a perfect opportunity for pefecting my metalic painting a bit more.

I don\'t care for the human minis, from what I can see of them - it seems you get what you pay for, and IMHO GW \'tat\' looks a lot better.
However, some of those mechs look excellent, and I\'ll probably shell out for a couple of spiders at the least.

Klute, think Inso would be interested? I think some of those would go well with some Grymn.

Hi Warren.

Yes I think he would.I will throw a thread up on the FoD.
It says the human figures are poseable so that limits the style a bit, ball socket joints and such.
The mechs look very good though.

GW \'tat\' costs over 300% more than these things!

I realise that these were originally designed and produced by a Russian company, but the fact that a company like Airfix has picked them up and is going to be sticking them in supermarkets and Argos\'s all over the country seems like pretty big news to me. I might go and get a T-Rex later on....:)

The mechs look very nice, Tim if you paint any I would love to se the results.

Last time a put an airfix kit together we used to set fire to them and send them down the washing line pretending that they had been shaot down :D (well I was 9 and it was a long time ago :D )
