Aldebrand who you ask? He\'s the long suffering hunting addicted elector count of everyones favourite forgotten state....Hochland!
Funnily enough, GW have made a model for him, which seems to be OOP now, as I can\'t find him on the website anymore. I can\'t remember when I bought the model but it must have been before they \"re-arranged\" (Got rid of the more unusual stuff) their store. So I decided to give a go painting him up as a way to easy myself into painting an Hochland empire army.
The first thing was that he needed a bit of an update as while the sculpt itself does not look too dated, the same can\'t be said for the Runefang or his horse. (If anyone can tell me what the name for Hochlands Runefang is I\'d be very great full. Can\'t find it online anywhere).
So here he is in his eavy metal (circa mid nineties) glory.
As you can see the Runefang is fairly pityful, so I set about the mini with gusto and removed the offending hand and weapon from the elbow, and replaced it with the Runefang from the captain spruce, as well as adding the cloak from the same source.
One basecoat of black later, followed by an undercoat of Boltgun metal. Then a wash with Badab Black and Devlan Mud and the armour stands like so....
Another couple of Badab black washes followed by highlight of Boltgun followed by Mitril should see the majority of the metal off.
I also basecoated the clock with Mecharite Red and then in my infinite stupidity gave it a wash with Devlan Mud also! It now looks like a latex cloak, so I will have to fix that with maybe a couple of brown glazes.
I am going to attempt my first serious freehand on the back of this cloak. I know the major religion of Hochland is the God Taal, whose symbol is Antlers, so I was going to attempt that, with an Imperial cross in the centre. If anyone else has any idea\'s i\'d be very happy to hear them.
The same applies to anything else I\'ve done so far, I\'d love to hear comments to help me improve as a painter.
