Alexander Holméns WIP thread

Hello everyone,

a small update from me: 3 practice heads I did last night, approximately 15 minutes /head. I did them as a warm up for a miniature I am now sculpting. The scale is true 28mm.

From left to right: a cute alien; a monk sticking out his tongue; and a worshipper of chaos

Please comment and critique!

I hope you like them!

Hi everyone,

here is my latest WIP. It is Alice from Hasslefree and I am totally in love with this little model. It will definately be more of Hasslefrees minis in the future. The title in my head is \"Pamela does crack and gets lost in Hollywood Hills\"lol

I hope you like her!

Best wishes

It\'s funny how Kev\'s sculpts have that effect! :D I never thought they were that special when I saw photos of them, but then I painted one and now I\'m an addict! I know several other people who reacted the same.

It looks nice so far... maybe the skin tone is a little too magenta-ish, but it\'s hard to say when the rest is unpainted. Good lighting!

Yeah, I totally love them - I have already ordered several more :bouncy:

The thing is that they look great IRL and make very good competition miniatures. I think that the hasslefree minis are not to \"flashy\" and that is what makes them less great in photos. Well, well I don´t really care how they look in photo though.

I gave the skintone alot of heat and slightly more \"slow\" contrast then the last to really give her a feminine feel.

Yeah, what makes them great is the sense of anatomy and proportion that Kev masters so well. I\'ve got a shit load of HF minis to paint and I\'m still wanting more! :innocent:

Now, I don\'t know what the mini looks like in real life, but magenta tones tend to make the skin tone look cold, so you better watch out with that (especially if you\'re after a warm tone). But, you know better, of course, what the mini REALLY looks like. :)

Hehe, yeah, I do :D No, seriously I am very pleased with the skintone, but if alot of people go against me on this one I might change

I would really like to buy a lot of minis at the same time but having lots of minis waiting to be painted seems to stress me out. I don´t like to paint with a time constriction. I like to let the mini take as long as possible and really try to make every new miniature my best yet.

If you\'re happy with it, then don\'t mind me!! ;)

Yeah, I also take the time needed for every mini. That only means the mountain of unpainted lead grows! :D I\'m thinking that if I ever get unemployed or something I can keep up my hobby without having to spend any money! That\'s my excuse... lol

Kolla gärna in min senaste figur om du inte sett den... det är också en HF-figur. :)

lollol I have never thought about it that way!

Oh, I really like this one, I have ordered it myself:)

I think that you have made a very personal version of it and the representation of volumes are great!

Tack! :) Jag ska fixa några små grejer som jag fått påpekat angående figuren, bara. Jag kommer nog ta med den till Paris.

What are your plans concerning the dress on Alice/Pamela?

I am a little bit lost, it will either be a see-through version like the one Mathieu Lalain did or it will be a little more original camoflage dress. I haven´t really decided yet. I also have a few more touches to be made for the base, which will be a little larger than usual (50mm in diameter). I am also thinking about making the thing in her hair from DIOR as well as the high sneakers/boots from Converse (to me they look alot like the slightly higher All-Star model) to make a reference to modern LA fashion. I will take a few day to think about it. What do you think??

I am very happy that you have decided to make a trip to Paris in September. I hope that it will be as good as last year! The hasslefree models were the most popular ones last year and will probably be very popular this year as well - painting the same ones as the masters give you a hint of what needs to be improved so count on me making a few as well.

I think, if you want the clothing to look like LA fashion, that you should not do a see-through thing as I don\'t think many people walk around like that! ;)

Yep, count on me to include a couple of HF minis in my entry collection. :)

Yeah, definately not a see-through dress if I go with the pamela idea but after a few hours of thinking I am leaning towards making a \"classic\" Alice with see-through dress wandering around in the jungle - I am just dying to try out the see-through idea IRL:)

Hi everyone,

Alice is finished and I am working on her base. I have left the idea of making a Pamela and have returned to the idea of just making a very beautiful Alice model. Why make it more pretentious than necessary

I really like how you did the dress!

The arm holding the rabbit looks a bit rough here, but I didn\'t see that before. Maybe it\'s the photo? Also, the shading in the cleavage area looks a bit \"fuzzy\", but that could also be a photo issue.

Anyway, I really like this mini and I look forward to seeing it finished! :)

Thanks!

the fuzziness is probably the photo. On this miniature I really tried to make every blend as perfect as possible and I am more than happy with the result. I have got it confirmed that my theoretical training is over and it is now time to just paint as god as humanly possible :D

Lookign good, the only bit I can see that has odd lighting is the fold just below her waist. It has a very deep shadow, but wouldn\'t the shadow lighten up as it reached towards her left leg. At the minute it looks like a dark streak. (Just nit picking really ;) )

Just noticed there are two, im talking about the longer one which ends almost at the bears elbow.

Hi Matty, thanks,

no, it is a matter of angle. An area less horizontal should always be darker than a more horizontal one.
