Hi Matty,

I understood that and I appreciated that you took the time to comment - if there is anything you ever wonder, just ask, I will gladly answer any question.

This explains what i was trying to say a bit better. If you look at the same fold on this version of the mini:

http://www.coolminiornot.com/126318

It is very dark at the top point of the fold, but blends and widens out towards the teddy bear. But even the lightened up end of the fold is as dark as the shading cast by her breasts. So it remains to be a very darkly shaded crease, but the blend evens out making it look more realistic.

Hope you don\'t think im having a go, but im just nit picking! It would be easier to explain if i took the pic and drew a few arrows on, but im tired at the moment lol

Hi Matty,

I understand what you mean but I don´t know what to answer you, I have seen this mini IRL and I don´t think that blending the shadow inside a fold is relevant to the finished product, sorry :) The representation of volumes is clear enough. Mathiuel Lalain did most certainly not this either but the fact that a shade usually accumulates in the most hollow part of crease, and he is probably the best painter there is in the fantasy genre. Please keep in mind that this is a true 28mm figure.

Not the blending inside the crease, but coming out of the crease. Its just that one bit draws my attention away from the rest of the model, so id just thought i would point it out, as it doesn\'t seem as subtly blended as the rest.
Im not going to argue as you definately are the better painter, but with little gits like me nagging about tiny details, you may be as good as Lalain one day :D

And if I tell you you are better than Lalain will you send me some painted mini\'s! ;)

No, but if you do make the tiny little change I may be hard pressed to vote a 10 :D

Hello everyone,

Alice is finished:) As you might have understood from the palette of her skin she is set in an autumn setting. The environment is very wild and the sign has lost its words a long time ago. I will wait to hear your comments before I make my final posting of her.

Please tell me what you think!

I hope you like her!

The paint job on her is great, but she feels both lost and out of place on the base. I don\'t think the style of it suits the paint job, and it feels far too big to me for such a little mini. It doesn\'t build an atmosphere somehow, more takes away from the clean painting on Alice. Others may disagree, but for me the base is hurting your otherwise excellent work.

Iv been waiting quite a while for this now! Its fantastic. My only nag is the leaves on the base look flat, how about painting some lighter coloured viens on them to give them a bit more volume and shape.

Great job though!

@Edit: Iv just read Lono\'s post, personally i think the base has the right feel. Its looks to me like Alice is being cautious and not in her natural environment. My eyes are instantly drawn to Alice but then drawn away by the tangled choas of plants and different shades of basework, but then returning to the brighter smooth, unjumbled paintjob on Alice.

Iono: Thanks, I couldn´t be happier about any comment:) That is exactly the point, she is lost and she is not in her natural environment. I do not agree that the base distracts from Alice but it may also be because I really felt like making a more scenic base than usual.

Matty: Yes! You got the scene exactly as I wanted to! Thank you for your nice comments . I will give the leaves weins (is it correctly spelled?) to make them more interesting.

I don\'t actually mean lost as in out of her environment lost, simply that there is far too much base here for my liking. If that\'s a conscious decision then fair enough, but for me it\'s the wrong one, probably because I don\'t like how the base looks so lots of it isn\'t something that works for me! It seems to push Matty\'s buttons as much as a fresh new hat would though, so I think it\'s a personal preference thing more than anything.

Hi everyone,

I have changed the leafs after talking it over with Mathieul Lalain, who was the original inspiration of the piece as well as making some adjustments to the skin.

I hope you like it better now!

It looks great, Alex!

The only thing I have to say against it is that I think the base is a bit too large for the mini... but that\'s just a matter of opinion, I guess. I think, though, that a smaller base (but still bigger than the 25 mm base the mini comes with) would accentuate the mini a bit more.

Still, great work on this and I think it\'s safe to say it\'s your best work yet! :)

Very impressive, love the mini and what you did with it. I like the size of the base, think it gives the impression that she really in some dark, huge, what-lurks-around-the-next-corner place. Made me think of James Herbert\'s Once - a lovely sick and twisted fairytale, with just a hint of naked flesh.

Og nej I er ikke de eneste der kan læse svensk ;)

Anders: Thanks, I am very happy with it and as I wrote before I am very happy that my favourite painters love it:bouncy: Concerning the base I do not agree, but as always some people love it, some don´t lol I definately agree that it is my best work this far.

I will probably post it for CMON sometime tonight! Promise to vote & comment!

Best wishes
