well, stick to things that aren\'t deadly to start with and build up the danger over a period of about 10 years.

lol

Sushi or sashimi specifically? If the latter, what I really want to know is will you be using a knife that costs as much as a motorcycle/secondhand car?

sushi huh? :|~

I don\'t even like cooked fish too much. I know, I know, my wife tells me all the time that a lot of sushi is cooked. I\'m still not a fan.

Nope, no re-morgage is taking place for kitchen utencilslol, i was hoping to find some saki to go with it, only becaure i hate tea, but no luck unfortunately, might opt for a nice scotch or whisky.....

do you have a large specialty liquor store? Most big liquor stores do carry saki, rice wine and plum wine. Plum wine is very good with some sashimi and sushi.

See if you can get some of the oni-giri rice flavourings from your friendly local Asian store, mix with cooked sushi rice, rice vinegar and tinned tuna and wrap in sheet nori for a delicious (and safe!) treat. (Well, apart from all that MSG...)

Damn, I miss Japan sometimes...

@Einion I was given a sashimi knife by a customer I built a Koi pond or about 6 years ago... didn\'t think much about it at the time and kept it in it\'s box until about 2 years ago whn I started dabbling in japanese cooking and neary had a triple heart attack when I looked up the price of the thing.... gotta be said though the quality is outstanding all be it a little dangerous.....and there I was when he gave me it shoving it in a drawer and not understanding the repsect he had paid me ....

as long as the fish is fresh and from a pollution free source it\'s pretty tricky to poison someone.... (not impossible though;))
