Alien Ice Babe needs help!?

The fans are at about 75% done.
Her skin is done on her body. (her face, feet, and hands are not yet done)
Her dress is done.
Her gloves and leggings are done.

Still working on fans, and lots of details: Straps, tie-ons, clasps, padding/trim around her armor, crystal, head-dress, etc.,

So? Any advice? I thinking that I\'m going to paint the rim around her armor plates in the same bronzey gold that the top of her fans are done in. The wails I already did have sort of a tan/light brown padding look around/behind the armor. Also, I have no clue what color I\'m doing the ribbons and head-dress. I most inclined to go with a green tone, something kinda aqua (ish) Similar to the base coat on the crystal. Don\'t know, but I\'m taking suggestions. I would like to work in some warmer colors as I finish her out also.

Criticize or help, whatever you like!

it may just be me thinking this, but i think that the head dress and ribbons would look good in red.???

Dunno Necro, I thought about going with a really bright color... not sure if that would overpower the model though.

Coming along nicely. Overall, I\'d like to see the blue (everywhere) smoothed out a bit. Maybe a wash or an inking. something to add a bit of darker to the dark areas, increase the contrasta bit.

I was thinkig a red as well (or yellow) for the ribbon but a darker, rich red/burgandy. It would add another color but not compete with the other brighter colors.

Is the skin painted?
Sometimes it\'s hard to tell with grey :)
If not, what colour will you do that?

Thanks for the feedback gang. I\'ll see what I can do about the smoothness of the blues on the dress. As of now, the fans are giving me fits!

@DaN: The skin is done, it\'s staying grey.

I\'m leaning towards sort of a cream color for the ribbons, though the darker red (earthy) might be a good way to go also.

Thanks for the input. Any others?
???

First of all I\'d like to say good work.
Two areas lets the rest down a bit though. On the left lower part of the jacket there is a vero rough transition between the dark and the light blue - it could be due to a fold not visible on the pic though.
The highlight on her right stocking looks a grainy and not as clearcut as the others.
It\'s a couple of minor details, but shold be easily corrected.

looks nice, is it me or does the face look like victoria beckam?!!

i would agree with the red for the ribbons. bu i would also darken the black on the gloves/leggings a bit, only a tad though

Thanks for the advice guys.

I noticed the grainy legging after doing the photo and corrected that. The dark/light blue transition is actually a fold (nice job manus ;)) in the cloth. Her dress, though you can\'t see it is two toned blue. There are exterior pannels that are the light sky blue and an interior pannel that is dark blue. Next time I\'ll post picks of the front and back. I\'m having a really tough time with the fans, so I\'ll be posting some updated photos of where the fans are at along with the corrections you guys mentioned. Thanks for the feedback. Any other ideas are welcome.

What if the red ribbon fades up to a creamy pink value?
???

Here\'s an overdue update.
Her Face, Feet, Hands and some other details need a little finish/touch up.

The real question is what to do with the ribbons and head-dress? I hoped by filling in the supporting details, I would have a better idea of what to do... No such luck.

@bill: thanks man, the fans are prooving to be a real pain in the booty. I just can\'\'t seem to get them to look how I would like.

Here she is:

First time I\'ve seen this- looks nice. I see you chose yellow for the trimmings- works well imo- makes a good contrast against the blue and picks up on the gold on the fans, but isn\'t so bright that it grabs attention from the rest of the mini. Very cool. I also like the subtle greenish shade that some of the blues seem to have. :)

Edit: Something I noticed is the highlighting on her headdress- it\'s quite a rapid, high-contrast change, but looks like it should be like that, if that makes sense. How did you do it? If I tried something like that, it\'d just look like an abrupt change from orange to yellow.

@Amazon:
Well the generic answer is thin paint built up in receding layers. The technique used here is based on a tutorial by Olliekickflip, which he derived from JBT.

Here\'s the recipe: (all paints thined heavily 50/50 water to paint minimum.)
Base coat: GW foundation Astronomican Grey
Primary Color Coat: Vallejo Model Color Light Yellow:
First Wash Series: Very Thin 5:1 GW Bestial Brown. (push the paint toward the base of her head)
Secondary wash (darkest Shadows): Bestial brown wash above + GW Red Gore... a very small amount of red.
Highlights: VMC Light Yellow. Thin paint, pull paint from orange area up to top of her head.
Final Highlights: GW Bleached Bone + VMC Light Yellow + Ceramcoat White (still thined) Apply only to top most portion of headpiece allowing spaces for the folds.

The key is keeping the paint thin on the model and building it up in slightly receading but overlapping layers. Do this in both directions, both with highlights and shades.

Olliekickflips Tutorial over at Reaper does a heck of a lot better job than I do at explaining this technique.

Thanks for the comments, I\'m hoping to get her based tonight and pics posted by this weekend. :D
