all time 5 favorite novels

i only ever read one of orwell's novels "animal farm" to be honest it put me off reading any of his other stuff i found it to be a little "peter n jane" if you know what i mean even though i understood the basic premis "power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely" the way in which it was presented was disappointing.
my reason for mentioning the "classics" was that since i've been floating around the forum's, some would say like a bad smell, i noticed that there are some very well educated patrons i thought might like a chance at dusting off there old tomes and sharing their thoughts, no pressure and theres nothing wrong with a good ian flemming or michael creighton... as iv'e said books are goood some may bore you some may scare the pants off you others may light your imagination while others make you laugh so hard you cry its been good seeing such a many and varied a collection and i know im going to be reading something different. thanks for sharing

Can't say that I'm a fan of orwell, I read animal farm because i had no choice, but even looking back at it, I definitly feel that he was very heavy handed in the allusion he was making to the Russian revolution.

Yah! World War Z was the most fun I've had reading a book in a long time.

But just think. Once they're 11-12 they'll be starting in on classics (I hope) and you'll get to have some cool conversations with them in their teens or twenties.

What the heck is Scaredy Squirrel?

Scaredy Squirrel is a character who is very paranoid about everything. During his books he oftens finds his predetermined barriers wind up getting broken down around him and his world becomes a bigger and better place.

Like the time he tried to make a friend with a goldfish. A nice, safe, goldfish! Then he wound up accidently making friends with a big slobbery dog! Oh Scaredy Squirrel.... he's so crazy!

SO in the end he learned a lesson. Friends are worth having EVEN if they're a lot of differences between you. Or maybe BECAUSE they're a lot of differences between you.

I can't wait to read a book without pictures. Which reminds me I have to go pick up my comics this week. Man, Thor is gonna have a tough time fighting Doom now that Victor got the Destroyer armor on.
