OK I know that this statement \"All your Bases are belong to us?\" Shows up in a banner on this site.

But it shows up all over the internet as well.

Can sombody please explain the source of this comment?

It\'s from some old computer/video game that begins with a little movie with some dialogue that was apparently translated from Japanese to English by someone whose knowledge of English as a second language was less than perfect.... lots of odd word choices, and grammatical errors.

In recent years, some folks have made a video that contains the original video game movie dialogue combined with a set of still shots of familiar logos and images that have the phrase \'all your base are belong to us\' worked into it (on shop windows, on ads, on Time magazine, etc.). It\'s been making it\'s rounds on the Internet-- particularly among gamer/sci-fi subcommunities, where it\'s become something of an in-joke. (I\'ve never really thought it was all that funny, personally).

I assume the banner is just playing on this, with the phrase \'all your bases\' being used since we, as mini enthusiasts, deal with the bases of miniatures.

It\'s from a game for the Sega Genesis... although the name escapes me right now.)

You might try looking at Genesis fan type sites or asking at a local used video game store if you\'re that interested.

I believe the name of the game is Zero Wing... not 100% sure though.

Zero Wing is indeed the name of the Game. It got started on a Quake Forum, this guy would say that when he killed ppl. Then, the guys on Something Awful got a hold of it, and that\'s when it exploded. The thread that got started ended up reaching almost 500 posts, 15 pages long, of people just posting pix that they\'d photoshopped the AYB phrase into. It filtered out from there, and got to the point that the admins now BAN anyone saying \"All your base\" from the forum.

The phrase has had an article on Wired.com, even people or Time, I think. There was an episode of Futurama where an Alien said the phrase, as well.

This : http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/28/17122.html has the original file, which I think is far funnier then the other crap ppl have made. Most of the pix on that page are from the Something Awful forum, back in the day. Ahh, nostalgia . . .

Yatta is a Japanese group kind of like Kids in the Hall, funny goofy rather than serious. lol pretty funny stuff... you will get a good laugh out of it.
