Alternative Bloodletter colors!

Alright fellow cmoners, now that i have (almost) finished my running man, i was struck by another inspiration for my soon to be fully converted (if i ever finish ) demon army.
Now down to business...
Pretty much, i don't tthink the blood letter swords look cool....they look pretty lame to me imo, and i started doing a mass conversion my my letters to all have a scratch build power claw and some sort of bionic body part (my first one has a bionic half-skull / eye and wires to and from bionic parts). now the question burning in my mind is, can i accetebly paint bloodletters any other besides red without people raging????

Painting them other colors is fine.
I have seen some very nice ones done by a local club member in black and saw some at a tournament in deep purples. Both had red gore on them but the Bloodletters themselves weren't red.
I remember seeing some done in gold with a red tinge too in a GW product at some stage too.

Personally i think as long as your happy with the look Go for It.

I painted mine in yellow with some red accents (my daemon army is all in yellow with accents appropriate to the various gods). People raged, but most grudgingly admit that the colours look ok.

Really, really late with this but I felt it was worth sharing. One of the guys at the LGS brought in his Bloodletters on sunday. His color range worked from a cool grey (10%) to a cornflower blue (only for shading) for the main portions, and he had midnight blue veins running along it. Dark, dark grey for accents. (like an 80-90% cool grey)

Looked wicked, but I forgot to ask what paint line he used.
