Alternative primerzzzz

Hi Y\'all!
After wasting too much time trying to fill creases and getting rid of the odd white spots I think I\'m ready to switch to black primer (About time I know.)
So I taught I would turn to the \'leader\' in miniature painting stuff, good old GW and found out the price of it.. 17$...
After cleaning up the coffee I spilled by chocking at that sight.. I decided it makes no sense and decided to look for other sources.
In my area, mini painting is not very big, and I cannot find that kind of supplies anywhere, closest thing i could find is some generic primer (Like tremclad or whatnot) and spaypaints. I\'m just wondering if these could do the trick of if it would turn my minis into a unpaintable blob.
If that\'s the case, anyone got a suggestion ?

gw aint primer, its an undercoat. doesn\'t adhere to the mini as well

go get some auto primer. over here, halfords own brand is the best i have used £5-6 for 500ml. have a look around. it\'s the cheapest one i have found but it is also the toughest and smoothest

I\'m not sure if it\'s available in Canada, but Duplicolor Sandable Primer is available in auto parts shops in the States and works quite well. Comes in several colors including black. About $5 US.

Another option is to cheat. Prime in white, but then give the mini a brown magic wash (1 part dark brown paint, 3 parts matte medium 3 parts water).

I use armory mini primer. I think it\'s great, available in black, white, or grey,and it\'s 10 bucks a can. A can lasts a long, long time. It really adheres to the fig well!

I use duplicolour automotive white, for all resin models (car primer is better on resin) and for any regular competition entries metal or plastic.

Canadian Tire carries it but white is rarer, so sometimes they have to order it if they don\'t have white in stock.

I\'m currently using Vallejo\'s grey primer, which has nice adhesive qualities. Can\'t remember what I paid for it, but it\'a a bigger can than GW\'s so it\'s lasted better.

So when you say autoprimer, you really mean automobile, not model cars right... Yeah, I think I can find this nearby.

yeah it\'s in bigger cans so it works out cheaper and is more durable too

yep, what the rest said was so, so true

but do keep in mind that it may be better (for me at least hehe) to use \"flat\" or \"dull\" colors, as the rest may end up TOO smooth to apply paint on. believe me, i\'ve made far too many mistakes with primer -_-\'

Yea, just recently my dad got automotive acrylic car primer from supercheap auto for about $10 AUD. It goes on nice and smoothly and most acrylic paints stick to it very nicley
