A mantis Shrimp! I couldn\'t resist giving this to you as I thought you\'d love it and you always give such wonderful pics to everyone else. Here you go!

Here\'s the quote about them from the artical I found it in:

Neither a mantis nor a shrimp, the mantis shrimp has changed little in 400 million years. It has the world\'s most complex eyes, and its prey-killing claw motion is the second-fastest animal motion. To quote mantis shrimp eye researcher Tom Cronin, \"Whenever they get into any type of situation, they smash things. You can\'t pick these up. They\'re really great animals to have around.\"

Thanks Liz, that\'s lovely :) You\'re buggered if you get one of those in your marine aquarium, since they\'ll hide away and kill everything in there before breaking the glass lol

Freak: they\'re called mantis shrimp just because they look like mantids (which are insects, and most closely related to cockroaches) and shrimps. They are technically called stomatopods, and although they\'re crustaceans, they\'re not that closely related to either shrimps or mantids.
