This is fantastic! I love the rather fantasy-looking base combined with the historical minis. Very original! :)

Wow.. This shows what great composition can do for a diorama. The action is all implied, but still there is plenty of tension and drama ready to unfold.

Excellent story telling, and beautiful painting. The base is stellar as well.

:wow::eek: That is one kickass beautiful diorama!!!! Like SuperV said, incredible storytelling. I\'m glad you explained about the emblems, though. At first I thought it meant that they were all blood donors:duh: Excellent work!

That really looks great. I have a few questions about oils.

Do you paint one wet layer over another wet layer?
When I do this (and later blend) I find that the color I\'m aplying dulls and soaks into (kind of) the layer under it. What I have been doing is aplying the mid tone and wet blending the shades and highlights into base. After this is dry I reaply all of the shadows and highlights and maybe a few tone shifts. How do you paint?
When I paint I get horrable brushstrokes showing. How do I get rid of this?
Is there a basic guide that shows how to paint with oils?
What colors do you paint your skin tones with?

Thanks
Jake

Thanks to all for your comments, my friend will be glad when i\'ll show him them.
For the history, the wars of Vendée have existed from 1793 to 1796 in the county of Vendée. It started after the execution of king Louis XVI. It was a peasants revolt against the revolutionary armies. Many massacres have been done against civils and soldiers during these years. Exemple: The revolutionarys under the orders of a governor, executed prisoners (men, women, children) by flowing boats the steam Loire in Nantes. This governor was called back to Paris some times ago and executed by \"guillotine\" ;)

My friend who paints with oils (me, i paint with acrylics), use a whyte spray GW for the 1st base. After he use sometimes acrylics colors to make his second base and after he use oils. But, sorry, I don\'t know how he use his oil paints. And my english is so poor to explain exactly his technic of painting.

Jake:
Just so you know, \"bombe\" in French means spray paint (actually it means the can but is used to refer to the paint too).
Just didn\'t want any GW explosions happening over in Marin due to miscommunications. ;) lol
