What is it about non-smoker\'s that gives them the right to single us out.

If I were another race, sex or creed it would be discrimination of some sort.
For example:
I had a girl at work come up to me a while back, and without preamble said \" That\'s a nasty habit!\"
I looked at her and dryly said \"I have nastier ones\".
\"Like what\" she asked.
\"Like choking the crap outa people who point out nasty habits.\"was my reply.

I always hear about second-hand smoke...but how many people die a year to second hand smoke compared to ...say...second-hand stupidity.

I bet more people die in one year due to someone\'s Second-Hand Stupidity than to Second-Hand Smoke...

For example how many wrecks have been cause by people addicted to cell phones.
Or how many wrecks have been caused while drinking and driving.
I\'d bet somewhere right now someone is cleaning a gun that has a round still in the chamber.
I\'d bet somewhere right now, someone who is not a qualified electrician, is working on their electrical problems in their house with the electricity turned on.

So stop the whining really you\'re safer around our smoke than we are around your stupidity.

Now this is not aimed at any one in particular...But if you go up to someone who is smoking and say\"That\'ll cause lung cancer\"...you are most likely a repeat offender of Second-Hand Stupidity.

The BIG difference between anti-smoking stuff, and say, anti-woman or anti-black discrimination is that YOU, as a smoker, made a CHOICE to smoke. You can\'t then cry foul cause somebody busted you for your choice. Don\'t work that way.

YOU being a generic \'you\', and not, y\'know, you.

The next socially undesirable group is - at least here in the States? It\'s us fat people. We\'re next.

And that\'s fine - though I fail to see why a smoker can sue Philip Morris, but a fat guy can\'t sue McDonald\'s.

the frivilous lawsuits are crap anyway...

guess that goes back to the stupidity of those that file, those that support it, and those that award it...

And also the whole attack the fat people thing is crazy!! The main difference I suppose, is that for years and years the fine folks at Philip Morris (and the other big tobacco) have lied about the addictiablilty, health effects, and long range impacts their products have. McDonald\'s has posted the contents of their product, its fat content, calorie info, so on and so forth....

Regardless, I don\'t think people should sue McDonalds OR BIG Tobacco for personal choices they have made.

Everything seems to be someone elses fault in this \'don\'t blame me I\'m a victim\' society.

I am an ex-smoker who knew the risks when I smoked, yet still chose to do so. I also have had my share of super-sized extra value meals at McDonalds. I don\'t blame anyone but myself if I have problems as a result of those things.

Actually Darth I\'m one of the smoker\'s who did not think it was right for smoker\'s to sue Phillip Morris. We made our own choice.

And I would personally shoot myself if I went up to some overweight person and said things like \"Hey tubby, if you don\'t loose some pounds, you\'re going to die of a heart attack.\"

But thats perfectly acceptable in non-smokers minds to do that to smokers.

This post was actually an accident. It was meant to be a light hearted kind of joke in the Tobbaco topic...Kinda like a Bill Engvall \"Here\'s your sign\".

But know this...I would rather be remembered dying from cancer fighting the good fight than dying some utterly stupid way...such as the PETA people freeing a herd (?) of pigs and getting trampled to death by them.

I think you\'d be surprised, though, how many people do EXACTLY that to fat people. Especially older people, who seem to think they have earned the right to say whatever they want with no threat of retaliation.

You think thats rude? You should live in South Korea. I am a 6\' 5\", 350 black male. I have been called pig, dirty, and completely disrespected because I am not white, or small. I have been denied access to stores, restaurants, and taxis because of this ignorance. I have learned a hatred for camera phones while here. Because everyone with one of those damn things feel it\'s their right to take your picture so they can show friends and laugh. I have been in three fights in two years. One was because this guy followed me around for 45 minutes calling me a pig. The second three guys harrassed my wife outside of a building. they didn\'t know I was just inside the door. They ran away shouting \"pig\", \"fuck you\", and \"big mama\". The third was when two guys followed me laughing and pointing. I flipped them off. One flipped me off. THe next day he went and got his girlfriend to show how tough he was. He had the guy from the first fight with him. I\'m not afriad of fighting them. But I\'m trying to finish my move to Canada. I don\'t want any bs criminal record to interfere with that. Secondly, I use to be able to bench press 120 kgs. I can only lift 80-90 kgs now. If I unless on one of these idiots, I\'m going to hurt him beyond belief. Nuff said.

Well, I\'ve not been disrespected that badly, but I have had my share of ridiculous things said to me/about me. I do find that, in the case of the old people, once you rip one or two of them in half the rest tend to leave you alone.

I didn\'t really know that there was that much of a divide in Korea...though since my F-I-L is originally from Seoul and seems to be of a fairly racist nature, I guess I should have known that kind of thing exists everywhere. Just here in America we tend to get blasted for it a bit more than elsewhere, I think. *shrug* At least I, white guy, do.

I know exactly where you are coming from Ebonbudda. I spent some time working with an English as a second language program while I was in college the first time. The worst racists we dealt with were the Asians, and by and large the Koreans were the worst of the bunch. Out of about 30 Koreans I dealt with, only one was willing to meet us half way, and he had spent his time in the Korean Army assigned to work with the US Army. The rest of them treated us like we were servents at best, or something to be scraped off their shoes at worst.
