Is it not fun as hell to paint? When I was painting him, I was reminded of why I love this hobby so damn much. It is an addicting paint and I highly reccomend the Flower Knight to anyone who loves NMM.

Steel is shining quite effectively. Black to white is surely the key, I agree, but one must know how much mid tone to use, and also how much pure white to use. For the latter,less is more. Where I think I under did my pure whites in some areas, I think you maybe overdid pure white in some? Maybe? It looks stellar just wondering if those white blings would be more effective if minimized a bit? Perhaps your glazing will take care of this, though :) Let me say that this is more preference I am pointing out than technical error.

Keep it it slow like this my friend and we will both be on the cape at the same time. I am thinking of doing his cape in a deep red violet. But my free hand plan is this: Take the red violet and add white to it. Use this color to make a bunch of tiny curly/leafy type designs across the entire cape. The cape is so heavily folded that you don't even have to be that precise, just fool the eye. Then I'll place some evenly spaced golden disks with designs inside of the circles in gold. Or maybe just golden rose buds evenly spaced. What say you? Put any thought into the cape?

You raise a very interesting point with the whites. OK firstly it isn't quite as white irl as the photo suggests this is because a very bright room and iPhone contrast. But and this is a big but it is more white than Tommies version and this is intentional for the Euro millitaire show its going in. Its natural light in there and its got to POP so I have intentionally upped the contrast. When i went to salute the other year and saw tommies Flower knight it was fantastic but due to the dim lighting you only saw how amazing it was when you really got down on a level with it a looked. I don't think it placed any where near were it should have done because of this so the extreme contrast id quite deliberate but this has the effect of too much white on a photo; so no good for online but good in a natural light show (or I hope that's the case!!)

The cloth dont know yet Im going to see after some serious prep.

Something else I've had a bit of difficulty determining how to paint is the sword. Now, most people think T. Soule was going for some sort of SENMM with his blade. If you study it, though, it is clear that, well, it is clear. He appears to be going for a semi-transluscent glass look. You can see the ivy from the other side on both ends. An interesting choice...

I thought about sky earth, but I've never really seen it done effectively on a blade. It's tough to make it convincing on such a small surface. SENMM works best when there a segments and different surfaces close to one another so you can see the variety of horizon lines.

So it sounds like standard NMM blade to me. Will incorporate a lot of white hash marks up and down the blade as is popular with this figure. Just thought Id share with you my thinking process.

Ha I delegate and am the epitome of efficiency that's me!!

Any way in my ten minute luchbreak I did a bit more thought it was alright and then saw Sprockets mini and then cried as i realised I cant do NMM like the big boys :(
