Done more work on the armour cooling down the shadows and uping the highlites. Had a go at getting some of the axe done far more work to do on it yet got to up the contrast but not to much trying to keep it black pitted iron. Bit of rust effect highlite to go.
Got to say Ive been using Vallejo glazing medium and i absolutely LOVE the stuff it makes it so easy to thin layer fantastic stuff!

Same here, I discovered it a week ago, have it since 6 months on my shelf... It is amazing how clean and smooth the layers are, I also use it for wetblending, acting as a drying retarder too...
Good stuff there, actually GW Lahmian medium is doing almost the same.

Never tried the GW Lahmian might give it a go.
Some more work done feels weird posting every night after going slow for so long. Done some more work on the armour and the axe blade and doen the chain mail and made a start on the leather and horns. This really is one of those minis you just love painting!

The contrast between the bright greenish highlights and the dark purplish shadows is very effective, and really keeps the mini interesting. I'm painting a nurgle mini myself just now, and I'm struggling to keep it from being blandly greenish brown. Your champion there is quite encouraging - it can be done!

Ok some more done on the axe horns and skulls a bit on the leather as well. Tried a bit of two brush blending on the skulls for the first time (cheers 10 ball) seems to help a bit with the smoothness.
Any way not a million miles of this guy being done so a bit more glints and the base to do and then on to the next chaos guy in the squad also got to start on the base which is probably going to take me as long as the paintjobs really going to go to town on it.

Yeah the blood lines I saw on a chaos giant somewhere and I always thought they were cool so leapt at the chance to do them I found mixing the red purple with glazing medium allowed me to draw very thin lines before the paint dried on the brush.
Tell you what would be good if any one could give me any tips on two brush blending as I am just starting to do it. I'm using a relatively thick paint only thinned slightly and holding the water laden brush in my teeth ready to immediately go over the paint and layer it out. Any extra tips would be greatly appreciated.

that is really, really good!
one thing, that skin is really, really good. try to make sure the base doesnt steal to much! if i were you i would make it really dark and subtle, maybe get a few purple and greens, but keep it dark to that our eyes are immediately drawn to the skin, it´s the best part!=)
that´s just my view, but it´s how i think you would get the best effect=)

Tried it 10 ball more practice needed is my verdict but Im going to stick with it.
Tried it exactly as you said ischa going to keep it on this base until the big diorama base is done then snip it off but will submit on this one for separate because I luuuuuuuurve it

Will take some better photos tomorrow in the sunlight but here is a quicky as its finito!
