Okay, so here is how it stands now once the new codex is out you may have to double check. the emperors champ is an independent character that can join a squad. So i would guess it has to be a full squad that he has join. Now there are 5 man squads with an without sergeants. the one without is called a combat squad. Black templars are a bit different in their naming conventions , not sure about their loadouts though. Either way a 5th marine would be safe

Andy did a bit of Google hunting and found this about Black Templars:-

Crusader Squad - This is your troop choice. They're basically tactical marines (Initiates), who can also have scouts (Neophytes) in their squad. The Initiates can be armed with either Bolt Pistol + Close Combat Weapon, or Bolter. Neophytes can be armed with Bolt Pistol + Close Combat Weapon, or shotgun. Additionally, you can take 1 special weapon, and either 1 heavy weapon or 1 special close combat weapon. A few ways you can outfit them:

• Small, shooting squad. 5 Initiates (with bolters). +/- 1 Neophyte (Scout with shotgun). {1 Lascannon. 1 Plasmagun (appears optional)}

Black Templars appear to prefer Up Close and Personal so I'd be tempted to forget the Heavy Weapon and utilise the PlasmaGun for a touch of Subtle OSL.

BUT the new SPaM codex is including them as a "Core" chapter so it may be beneficial to endure the FanBoi's for half an hour to check the codex out.

Thanks to everyone for helping me out there looks like I'm going to need two more marines doing then and swap out the plasma guy got a pic of the squad as is now.

honestly i be surprised if 4 marines + champ wouldnt be enough. people keep winning stuff with plauge bearers and obviously in game it has to be 10 to be legal. i suspect they have that "must be in game legal" rule just so you dont put a ork warboss in your squad...

Very nice mate. It maybe just the photo but the eye lenses could do with a tad more colour / glint?

Looking sweet. I agree with ten ball regarding the eye lenses. My only other comment would be with regard to the bases which are very dark and blur into the marines. I'm sure that there is more to do there, but I would suggest creating some contrast.

looking great. i agree with ozymandis. the minis are blending in a bit much into the bases for me.

Your not wrong im going to add some chipped yellowed chaos symbols to the bases but only after I have done the big base to slot them in.
Eyes yep and also the end marine needs extra highliting on him to match the others. Moving onto the next marine and then after him a sergeant. Final stretch coming up.

Sweet!! Perhaps if you add bits of the banner color to the big base it will bring the marines up front??

Looking at your space marine pics, I have two things to say:

1) Very nice work! Love the black&gold look and high contrast highlights.
2) My neck hurts

bweautiful work, only one thing bugging me though. i think i see some cracks or something on the shoulderpad of the arm suporting the gun (it looks like the right one from where i'm sitting). what are those? are the ment to be there? is something going over them? they don't match the embossing on the other shoulderpad, and are a little distracting. otherwise great work

If you look at the finished ones, i believe it is the shadow of the raised arrow (assault squad markings ?) that Andy has not painted the white backgroung field on the shoulder pad yet.

What i want to know is how he has time to paint this much to such a high quality with a baby crawling around!

Edit:i guess i need to clean the screen on the touchpad more often.

i'm not, i'm talking about the latest one. his finished ones are superb, but on this latest one there is a tiny crack like thing on the shoulderpad that doesn't have the squad markings in it, right by the gold NMM. here, i'll show you. (though i am loathe to put a crappy paint arrow over such beautiful work)
