OOOOOOH Incoming Rackham Wolfen love parade LOL

Hi Andy,

Looks like you have made a nice start to this excellent mini. Your colours that are showing in the fleshtones seem to be going the right way. There is a lot of contrast on the musculature which is no bad thing IMO but maybe try to vary it a bit. My example would be at the top of the back, where the muscles would receive a lot of light, maybe not push the shadows as dark as you have on other areas of the back and under the pecs.

You always seem to nail the lighting so I don't want to comment too much at this early stage - am interested to see how you go on this fella.

Cheers
Will

Ok just got back to this; damn work got in the way of painting!!!!!!!!!!! Any way smoothed out some of the transitions but going for quite a stark zenithal moonlight effect a lot of the colours washed out but its clearly undead:ghost: so got greens and blues and dark reds mixed into the shadows and highlites based the weapons ready for a rusty nmm and gonna go with an earthy green for the leather work I might satinate it not sure yet.

So crits and suggestions very welcome guys.;)

looking goooooooood son, all the colours have really worked on the skin to great effect. A rich orange/brown NMM on the blades would look super. What do you think of yellow eyes?

looks good man, like he's standing in the glare of a full moon with the light bouncing off the fur.

Skin and lighting coming on really nicely andy. The way you tidy areas up and smoother out is miraculous! Sometimes I think you are off the mark then a day or two later a picture comes in and it looks like a different mini. Fascinating to watch. Great work!

Ok had a go at doing some NMM rusty style homage to sprocket:) 'sokay I think. Was going to put a blue / grey top end but I dont think it will work having bright colours in a moonlight setting what do you think?

Sketched in the robes lots of work yet to do on them gone for a mouldering green look i will tone them down when they are done with midtone washes to fade them out in the moonlight.

Strange mini looks great from the sides but SH1T from the front; face on no motion or expresion but loads from the sides.

Got to consider the base soon thinking of a very verticaly orientated vignette forest and ruins bathed in moonlight.

So crits and suggestions would be great:good:

Love the colour of the skin and the NMM looks great from this view, maybe a very tiny bit more of orange in the shadows?. Just my opinion mate but im not to sure about green, it seems to clash with the blue of the skin? See what the other supa dupa painters out there think. :)

yeah the sword and javeline are in shadow in the pic only had one light so the orange of which there is quite a bit doest realy pop in this photo.

what about dark brown for the clothes? Im thinking drab colours because of the reduced lighting.

Looking great, nice colours and smooth skin tones. Personally I don't mind the green colour but I would go desaturated on it to bring it in keeping with the rest of the scheme.

At the moment the focus is on his chest rather than his face, I don't know if his eyes have been painted yet mind you. Going for a highly saturated blue could look nice and would help to bring your eye up. Also, normally the face gets the lightest highlights, I think you've got room to push those further on his face. It would be interesting to see the picture in black and white.

None the less he's looking very cool.

Ok old blue eyes it is;) and I quite like the green so Im gonna stick with it but as you say paint it first and then give it a good wash with a matt mid tone to desaturate the colour in keeping with the moonlight aesthetic. I'll push the highlites a tad more on the face, to be honest front on the chest IS the focal point because the face is hatchet like and there is minimal profile from the front were as from the side the face realy dominates.

Around the nose and mouth try blending some pinks and reds, also some light tan on the fur & nails to get a more animal look but still incorporate the blues in the mix to tie it all in I reckon :)

If you go with the green make it a real earthy green shading with browns.

Yep was gonna go with some of the dark brown i placed in the dark rust areas on the blades to give it that old colour harmony bit.

Yes to the pinks and reds will help the contrast and so push up the highlites good idea. Havent finnished the claws and what not just sketched in a zenithal highlite to help with paint placement later.

Will post a new pic tonight:)

Ok new photos realy tried to up the contrast on the face and desaturate the colours on the rags and bindings lots of browns and dark greens and reds also given it a matt midtone wash trying to make it look like mouldering tomb garments.

Any way appreciate your comments and suggestions guys:good:

looking sharp. the photo's could be a little lighter but still looks good. I don't think the straight on view is as bad as you think.
