Based the mini tried doing a bridge but it looked daft so instead gone for a cave with rough worked steps and not one but TWO skulls.

Cheers guys quite pleased with it though there's still a lot to learn on the gold nmm for sure. The gold was done with old GW I bought a load cheap still not used em up yet. The recipe is a Eavy Metal Masterclass on sanguinus. Pm me Ellis I'll sort you out the recipe, about twelve sodding stages!

Got out Harry the hammer, it's a lovely figure and realy great base. Any one else feel like giving it a go? Bit of parallel paint would be good on this one.

Will post the final pics of the nova warrior tommorow with a voting link.

I'll be interested in watching you paint Harry. I'd never heard of the figure till you showed me pics of him. I know you will do a killer job on him. Now go on, get busy.

Ok started painting harry the hammer its a great idea for a figure but........Well imagine giving a pencil and paper to a gifted 14 year old lad and saying to them design the ultimate super car! It would look like a cross between the bat mobile and a ferrari on steroids all raw power and nooooo finesse well thats what harry the hammer is like!Lol great concept with loads of spikey chaosy uber manliness with conan and thor ideas thrown in for good measure but the quality of the sculpt is meh so so and pretty rough round the edges. That said im enjoying it as it reminds me of the reason i got into warhammer all those years ago that being the concept art of John Blanche it is his art come to life. Lets be honest hes a so so artist but who doesnt love his world view of warhammer eh?

Any way fluff aside heres the paint job so far going for a lava scale effect on the main sections of armour and shield and im going to trim with gold nmm. Crits and suggestions please.

Yeah it is a GW model, the posterboy for warhammer.

And very smexy lava armor indeed. Either you are the neatest painter ever, or you cheat and clean him up before taking pics.

And John Blanche...really? Always thought his artwork looked crud and outdated. Great for conceptualizing the 40k feel, but as art pretty bad. Bring back Mark Gibbons, now there was artpieces that made me wee a little everytime. Still remeber that fullpage Nagash that made we play undead and want a mini soooo bad.

And then they made the worst mini ever, although it has been topped recently.

Ok done a completely new take on gold for me; rather than starting with the base coat only a couple of shades lighter than the darkest shade ive gone for a light mid tone as the base coat and worked down to the darkest shade through several layers then up to the lightest highlites. Must say its a lot easier this way as you know where to put the glints and what have you a lot better I feel.

Still very rough and it needs smoothing between the layers but Im quite pleased.:)

started sketching out the nmm on the figure. Realy trying to do it like the master carefuly considering were the shades and glints go. My respect for the greats Alexi z Elly yellow one Joe etc is growing by leaps and bounds ye gods they are tallented this contrast nmm painting mallarky is hard!!

Just placed the shield next to the figure not attached.
