Angel of Shadow 361926

Ok, I finished a Reaper Angel of Shadow over the weekend, in which I attempted two new techniques - NMM and expressive faces. Not sure as to how well they were accomplished, but I'm not as intimidated by them as before.

The Angel of Shadow was a blast to paint, taking me roughly 5 days. However, I do know there is room for improvement. If you would leave comments, either on the voting thread, here, or at my Work in Progress thread, I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks for your comments/critiques/advice - even if it's "your paints are too thick, numbskull!", since it's an area I know I struggle with.

Pics are a bit small to see the face properly. The figure looks neatly painted, though. Maybe try to define stuff a bit more, like adding some dark lining between the legs and between leg and light green dress? Also, the layered cork needs to be worked on a bit. Especially on the rear side, where you can see it's layers of cork stacked on top of each other. Use some milliput or similar to make it into a flat, unbroken surface and paint it black or something.

The NMM needs to be more extreme to create the metal look. Darker shadows and lighter highlights. More contrast and some really shiny highlights to create that impression of a highly reflective surface.

Keep working on it and you'll get there! :)

Hmm, ok - I will work on getting some closeup pictures of the face and NMM weapon. The gold was a LOT easier to paint than the steel. It's not great, but I had nothing but trouble trying to do the blade, whereas I could actually see the handle coming to life.

And yeah, I realized the base fail after I painted it. Didn't worry about it since most views will be from the front, but I can go back and fix that fairly easily (I think).

Thanks for the comments!
