I have posted a pic of my big scale duel,I entered this at G.D. U.K. last year and though I got it finished with a day or so to spare I kept looking at the mini and felt unhappy.
:~(
After Birmingham I had a good long hard looK at the mini, I realised that I had subconciuosly cut a lot of corners to get it finished in time ,big mistake.
Hint nos 1, ALWAYS allow loads of time to do a mini for a show,dont rush, take your time and all-nighters before the show is a recipe for Disaster
Well I took both minis off the base,
Hint nos 2, if like me you use Epoxy Glue to fix models onto a base apply a hairdryer to the feet ,it warms up the glue and softens it making removal easier.
I repainted the Orks skin to make it duller and added even more scrapes and dents to him and his armour.
The Marine I hacked off the 2 burning braziers that were on his pack & replaced them with a banner.
Hint nos 3, to do this I use a Milliput /Green stuff mix ; 60%/40%. I then use Talc and a kids rolling pin to roll out the putty to a thin sheet, cut to size and apply.To get folds use a Hairdryer on slow speed and Big soft brushes to shape the banner.
Final hint, most putties work on a heat principle,any left over stick it in the freezer and it will stay \"fresh \" for a day or 2 ( be careful its not mistaken for something edible).
I also added more bits and purity seals to the Marine to make him look busier.
Heres the end result;
