Angering the fluff gods

Well, i got a pack of two eldar fire dragon warriors for christmas and since i don\'t play as them i desided to look up their color scheme here on CMON. Turns out their armour\'s red and orange... not what i had in mind. So i was thinking of sculpting some fire coming out of their flamer with GS and painting them in shiney NMM armour with the flame reflecting off them. Never tryed OSL, and though this a fun way to jump into it. Do you nice folks think that\'ll work, or will the fluff gods be angered at me and my project\'s doomed from the start?

Thanks,
nick-

(Will no one wait for my OSL article!?!?! Gaaaaaahh!!)
(You should be working on it more then..)
(Wait, who are you?)
(. . . )

:p

Anyways, I envsion it could work: sooty, sorched metal with a bit of ornage here and there would definatly be different and can work.. provided you keep in mind the direction of the light/ how it reflects/ sculpt flame right.... It\'s a daunting, but finshable task, is what I\'m getting at.. :p

Well... i have been waiting for you article (and new comics... hint hint ;)) but thought i could get out the sculpting while you finish that up.

i wasn\'t thinking of scorched armour, but rather VERY shiny armour with the flame reflecting off it. But i know people get upset when you go against fluff, would people enjoy it, or just say it\'s the wrong color scheme? No point in making and posting if i\'m the only one enjoying.:]

If there\'s one thing that really bothers me is to read a comment from someone complaining that the colors \"aren\'t right\".
This is suppose to be fantasy, and I always give higher scores when I see something new and different. You already have an extra point from me :)
But yes, you\'ll probably upset some kid who worships White Dwarf magazine...

Only trouble I see is that this will be a \"view from this angle only\" mini if you use a shiney (SENMM) armor. The reflections will only work from a given angle. Change the angle of the mini and the reflection would be wrong.

BUT, done right from the right angle and it could be spectacular.

Go for it. (before Chrispy beats you to it.)

Ok so i got all excited about this project... but i don\'t wanna just copy the OSL queen... why\'s somebody always gotta beat me to what i think is a new idealol i\'ll still try it though:D

Well, being an avid Eldar guy myself, you have to remember that the red and orange color scheme is one of the most common themes, but not all Eldar craftworlds follow the same themes.

No fluff is being being screwed up by your painting idea.

... and the lightbulb flickrs on.

Bzzzt.. BZZACK!!

I was about to PM you Itchy, but figured this pertains to us all:
I remembered from Stagecraft that yellow light goes to orange, then brown but never connected it with fire until doing my OSl article now. Basically, I\'m setting down a new rule Victoria has already broken: You do NOT use red in fire!!
Since fire gives off a yellow light, it follows the same rule: yellow to orange to brown. Now, it may look like a warm or rusty brown, but never a blood red kind of color.

Let it be written, so let it be done! :p

:D what a cool idea. By all means, to do what you want and make something origional gets you many points around here.
Besides- who is to say what color flame a fusion gun makes- I know I\'ve never seen one in actionlol. At least the ones of us that are not delusional or schizophrenic haven\'t.
