Hi, iv made an animated photo of my latest submission, but its 1.7mb so i dont want to put it up for voting because the file is huge. It was made in imageready, but is there any way to use a save-for-web function like there is in photoshop?

This is a good idea and the animation is very well done :)

Unfortunately .gif is not a good format for pictures. gif only supports 256 colors (compared to 16.7 million colors jpg supports). Due to this blends an transitions usually look worse in .gif because many subtle colors get lost. jpg is the format of choice for photographs (but doesn\'t support animations).

Please don\'t take this as criticism - I think your animation and idea are both great. I only want to make you aware of the difference between gif and jpg and why jpg is the better format for photographs. You best shot at combining the quality of jpg\'s with animation is Flash, but this is a whole different can of worms...

Appart from that, yes, PORN, no doubt

No idea. Does the banner actually say \"porn\" behind his head?
That was the first thing I noticed too! After that I noticed the photo was animated...

This type of animation works just like a stack of photos. So, the more steps you have in the animation (i.e. the smoother the motion is) the bigger your file will be because it contains a higher number of separate photos.

The first gif(?) I eevr saw was this one, http://www.coolminiornot.com/index/whatc/Historical/id/150916 , hopefully it will become more frequent.

Well if it does say \"PORN\" it must be some weird stuff, based on the image on the banner.

I\'m not really a fan of the spinny pics. What Privateer Press does in their gallery is cool, but I want to take time and look at the mini. You can\'t control the animated gifs.

I paint my thumb.
Well, there was no place on the banner to write \'necrophilia\' or \'sado-masochism\' lol

I don\'t think it\'s good for CMON, just no way to do it without losing quality on the pics... but it could be very cool on a personnal gallery.
But I would use both, a spinning model and a few stills, to enjoy the details.

i agree - it\'s quite a fancy technique but the colour of the picture is lower and you can\'t compare the different anles like you can if the pictures are side by side

It was first done on here several years ago with a picture of a goblin.
Ok it\'s very clever work but as has been pointed out I\'m one of those people who like to study a miniature in depth so this is just a \"Flashy Gimmick\" to me.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly! On CMON I want to look at the paintjob and I can\'t do that on a rotating mini since the area I want to study doesn\'t keep still and vanishes from view every other second. This thing is good for marketing purposes, such as Privateer Press does, because you get a better feel for how the sculpt looks. But for showing you paintjob ordinary photos works much better.
