I hate the lowest common denominator factor of way too many movies. Seems to be getting worse with more modern ones.
It used to be a subtle clue hidden here and there and only explained at the very end of the movie. Those that caught it sit there smugly thinking, I caught that! The rest go, wow, I didn\'t see that coming and everyone enjoys.
Now a days it seem more like, hey look there’s a clue. 50% of normal people catch it and feel just a bit smug about it. Then a couple scenes later they have hint at the clue, a pan of the camera, a wink, something. Now 90% of people get it, those first 50% are starting to think, omg did they really need to point that out. Then a few minutes later they have one of the characters blatantly mention the clue. Now the 50, previously impressed with themselves people are slapping their heads at the stupidity and ready to walk out, the other 40% who had gotten it are now getting bored and thinking did they really have to spell it out. By the end of the movie there are maybe 3% of the audience that could possibly be suppressed at the now obvious twist.
