What's the facebook/TwitterSidebar thing that keeps appearing in the forums in the top left (some sort of 'win a Cang' competition) and how. the. hell. do I get rid of it - it's MASSIVELY annoying.

succumb to it! join ussssssssssss JOIN USSSSSSSSSSSS!

Emphatically NO.
I despise Facebook, not only for the inane amount of crap it spawns, but for the huge amount of data-mining that it is being used for. Plus over 120 "Friend" requests from people not only have I never heard of before, but from countries I have never had any connection to.
Twitter....I have better thing to do with my life.
Linkedin...I was told that it was a Professional communication tool. Wrong.

Thank god there's somebody else in the world who thinks the same. The office has gone 'Twitter mad' over the past couple of weeks. Fair play it's fine for a business but who honestly cares that you've just made a cheese sandwich or are about to make a coffee...

Heavy twitter user here, but mostly following news and commentary. Actually find it very useful and entertaining. Managed to get my home phone back up and running from work via tweets with the phone company in less time than waiting on the customer service line.

Then again, I don't follow a lot of people who do not much else besides eat cheese sandwiches and make coffee. Figure they're also the ones sending Facebook friend requests in between bites.

So all fun quips aside, is there a way to disable it? Ditto with Dragonsreach on the twit/facebook.

An adblocker plugin for your browser (if available). But be aware these can be aggressive and hide stuff you do want to see as well as all the crap you don't.
