Keith \"Doc\" Herber has passed away in Lakeland, Florida, at the age of 60. Herber was a seminal author and editor for Chaosium\'s Call of Cthulhu RPG, and his work is ranked as the best written for the game. His long list of award-winning publications included the campaigns Fungi from Yuggoth, Spawn of Azathoth and Trail of Tsathoggua, and the Lovecraft Country series, including Arkham Unveiled and Return to Dunwich.
He also launched Chaosium\'s popular line of Mythos fiction, which has brought back into print many Lovecraftian tales. Herber is remembered by many roleplaying authors for combining kindness and encouragement with a keen editorial eye. At the time of his death, he had just launched his own imprint Miskatonic University Press, and the first scenario anthology New Tales of the Miskatonic Valley has just appeared.
In addition to his writing, Herber was also an accomplished bass player and has played with numerous blues and rock bands. He is survived by his wife Sharon and son Erik.
