Another request for comments

Hello again,

I have not been very active here for a few months, but have recently finished some pieces that I am proud of--and even more important, I had a great time painting them! :flip:

If any of you have a spare moment, I would really appreciate some comments. That is how we all learn, right?

You have taken a number of great steps forward in painting. I really like the rusted metal effect you\'ve done on the orc.
The Dire Wolf is great as well, but I think it would benefit from another photo from a different angle in addition to what you have posted, to show off to it\'s best advantage.

I\'ve left comments on both of the minis, on their pages (maybe that will help give more peeps the clue that they should leave a comment there, too... ).

I think of the two, the orc is definitely your stronger piece. Looking at some of the pics you posted before in your gallery, it looks like you\'ve definitely made some improvements! Keep it up--the best way to get better is to practice.

Which reminds me... I should get my butt back to painting... I need the practice! :lol:

Mike, thanks for being so supportive, as you always are. What angle do you think would look better? A little lower? I took the pic from a fairly high angle so the markings on the wolf\'s back would be visible, but it sounds like you think a lower one would look better. It was actually a little tricky getting everything in focus, since it is such a long model. Initially, I centered the pic on the center of the body, but then the face was out of focus.

Valander, thanks to you too for your comments. I agree that the plates could use a little more definition. Actually, at first I painted the armour very carfully, with blacklining and highlights in metallic paints. Then I proceded to obliterate all that work with the rusting process. I could have saved a lot of time by just giving it a quick coat of gunmetal. Oh well, at least it\'s authentic under all the rust.

I\'m not sure how blacklining would work as it is now since part of the rusting technique I used involved gluing very fine sand into the crevices (we all know how difficult it is once you get sand in your crevices). Maybe I could do some darklining on the parts that are not \"sandy\"? I might try that out actually.

Thanks again guys, I appreciate the time you put into commenting on these figs. I must say that I was a little disappointed that I didn\'t get more feedback, but can\'t complain too much since I have been slacking off on leaving comments for a while too.
