Another Terrorist Strike in Bali

They\'ve done it again. 32 dead on last report I\'ve seen. Only one Australian so far which is a surprise. What really gets me is Bali is traditionally Hindu, and these %^%$## think they have the right to impose their agenda. I have heard it said this war isn\'t between west and Islam, more between the secular and fundamentalist religion who believe they have a role in government. I\'m coming more to believe this is the case watching events worldwide - whether it is bombing abortion clinics, or refusing to leave land peacefully because of a religious prophecy (I know there are other issues in Gaza). Sorry, rant off.

Things like this are why I usually avoid watching the news at all.

When the bomb hits, I want to be blissfully oblivious to its impact until I get vapourized. And even then, I don\'t want to know.

Its like the crusades all over again. When will these people realize that they can\'t push their religous views upon the rest of the world. I Really hope that some one catches the fuckheads responable for this and make them suffer for the rest of their lives.

3 Australians now confirmed dead, but no mention of what nationalities the others are. If it is like the other bombings in Indonesia the locals will have worn the brunt of it.

The penalties they have been getting vary from the death penalty down to a year or two in gaol.

see - at least they have the death panalty. if they cought them over here, they just get free board and lodgings. it\'s an easy life. if your in jail, you dont have a job so you don\'t pay tax. they have gym facilities, recreational facilites and free food. and i fucking pay for it, working my ass off 50hrs a week, mopping up blood, shit and vomit from drunk abusive people who think i owe them someting. shoot them all

It\'s sad. I always get really really sad everytime, it\'s so unnecessary. They won\'t achieve nothing more then new hostilities against Islam and a legitimation of a harsh agenda.

It\'s a difficult issue.. you can\'t turn the other cheek either. But the bounds of what is allowed is allways pushed.. both in surveillance, freedom of speach and liberties. Sometimes you almost believe that the harsh futures of sci-fi like 1984 might come true. But I hope we realize where we are going before it is too late.

Well that is the problem really, death penalty. As long as people tend to believe they have a right of killing other people it will continue. It\'s like kids in a sandbox. \"they started it\" \"they\'re mean\" and even \"they thought of starting it\" as in preventive warfare. Is it a big surprise that f*ckheads can get support for their ideas when they see it as their very ideals are under attack. They have the same polemic propaganda.. Good vs Evil. They seem to look at them self as the people of good. Christian or Islam extremists alike.

Yes it is interesting that both sides use the likeness to the crusades, while Islamic propaganda has it that \"infidels\" of USA\'s trying to push their views on the rest of the world, while some USA propaganda has it that it is all about Islam trying to be a world dominating religion. (I even read one of those articles in Swedish newspaper)

Did you know that it was the same accusations directed by Nazis against Jews? And believe me there\'s a lot of anti-semitism in Islam terrorist propaganda as well. (they just adopt propaganda as they see fit)

It is in conflicts that the stupid propaganda and polemic views flourish. It is as simple as that... these groups could never grow like this without a conflict. And how long is it before the combatants start talking about the \"ultimate solution to the (insert something) question\" There are ways to live with each other in mutual respect. The history has shown that. As well as history shows that we keep repeating the same mistakes over and over again.

It is sad, really sad.

The whole good vs evil thing is a load of bollocks. It depends what side of the fence you peer at things from as to whether you are a terrorist or a freedom fighter.

Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness came through the IRA, and no doubt had their fingers in some most vile and unsavoury pies, but they\'re now \'respected\' leaders of a recognised and elected political party.

Some of the so-called Islamic extremists and terrorists in Gaza have been subjected to horrendous abuses of human rights by the Israelis.

We complain about the deaths of innocent victims in terrorist attacks, but how many civilians have died in Chechnya and Iraq? Doesn\'t validate anything, but you can see why people are pissed off and desperate.

The human race will never live in peace and harmony. There will always be someone, somewhere with a gripe about something.

It\'s just a shame we can\'t locate and terminate the individuals instead of picking on entire nations!

I think this pretty much sums it all up. :(

It will affect in tourism, as people thinks its not safe there anymore. Where is safe nowadays?

Its a shame this kind of action takes place so often.

:( probably, but we could allways strive for less violence and more peace. There are levels of hell, there allways is.

well.. the problem is when people do things for something else, some utopia or god. It is the same problem with ideologies like communism in Sovjet and Nazi-germany. Actually many people argue that it is the \"enlightenment\" that is responsible for the holocaust. (read Horkheimer, Adorno) The bottom line is.. some people use these things for their own purposes, whether it is religion, ideologies or science.

@Avelorn - Excellent points!

It pretty much irks me when people blme religion for these things like it is the one, true, and root cause of them. It\'s not religion. It\'s people twisting religion to meet their own purposes. And it\'s people following other people blindly without any thought of their own. In other words, the root cuase is Humankind itself. That\'s why I was agreeing with Spacemunkie.

Eliminate all of humankind and you will drastically reduce the number of wars and senseless killing. :D

it\'s pretty much like I always say: the only time we\'re going to have peace on Earth is when (if) we finally make it out to the stars and find some other race to make war on

We are a most violent and tribal animal that will always defend it\'s territory with a ferociousness that escapes the rest of the animal kingdom. That\'s why we run the planet!

Doesn\'t matter what we do, you\'ll never completely beat thousands of years of evolution.

@Avelorn: You can strive for more peace all you like, but it won\'t stop people behaving like animals.

It\'s human nature.
