Took a break from the mounted samurai and started something a bit smaller. Tryed this colour scheme on an older howling banshee exarch but i sold it so doing this one similar for myself and trying to take a bit more care on it.

taking breaks from painting always gets better results!!! I didnt paint for a year or so, came back to it after reading all the articles and books I could find, and won a painting competition!

The Banshee looks fantastic...I really like the look of the forearms attached to the blade, even if they aren\'t finished.

I also vastly prefer the old banshees to the new ones...they just don\'t look very well sculpted

Thanx for the nice words, its good to get back into it again abd I have lots of things to do that I had planned before I took a break. I\'ve also taken on some work for the local hobby shop so no turning back now :p .
One of my plans was to paint each of the Eldar Exarchs, I noticed they have redone a few lately and tried to get the Striking Scorpion one online but it seems they only sell it as a pack :( .

Started on the weapon aswell, just a few areas here im not sure on yet, may do these the same as the armor but something a bit darker may be good, what does anyone else think?

Hey,

Dunno if it\'s due to the photo or not but the last shot is far more blue than the others .. shame to lose the purple/lilac colour as it was Sweeeet :D

Lurvely blending all over though !

What colours are you going to pick the soulstones out in?

.. psy

I\'m still trying to get used to taking photos of them again so I messed around with the last photos in an editor for a bit, here is one i just cropped.

Was gonna do the stones blue but not sure now maybe something that stands out might be good.

Edit: I think i\'ll stick with a blue for the stones as to not take away from the eyes.

Might I suggestgrey/white stones? I agree that a bright color would detract from the eyes, but you use a color similar to the face shield it would add some details and more interest to the model. Just a thought.

I went with blue stones in the end, I think white/grey would be a bit to similar to the metal areas.
Just stuck the arms on will try to get another picture tommorow, made the mistake of not checking if the arms fit before i started painting, had to mess around with that abit which is\'nt ideal when something is almost finished :p , I\'ll just blame that one on the painting break  .

Oooh , prettty...

Anyway, I like the subdued tones you\'ve gone for and the osl with the eyes is excellent!

For the hair, I would paint it a contrasting colour to the armour e.g. white or a deep red.

Great job!

Cheers,
Tom

I orginally didn\'t think the purple would work from the first photo, but it looks great now, you\'vre really brought the purple/blue to life.

Can\'t wait to see the finished product.

Ok I have posted this one in my gallery but may come back to working on it, still contemplating some freehand (or trying to summon the courage :p ). First one I have finished for after a year and a half break so be nice :) .

magnificent! this is one of my favorite models, I think GW made a mistake when they resculpted the howling banshees. why remake an already perfect model ???
and the paint job is great aswell :D
